Samsung Infuse 4G, the first phone to use its “4G” HSPA+ network and the first to debut Samsung’s Super AMOLED Plus screen technology has been announced by AT&T. the new handset runs Android (2.2 at the moment) and comes with a huge 4.5 inch Super AMOLED display – yup, it’s bigger than the screens of Motorola Droid X and HTC Evo 4G.

You might have heard about Super AMOLED, but the Samsung Infuse 4G is expected with Super AMOLED Plus that has a 50 per cent higher sub-pixel count. The technology promises enhanced contrast and outdoor legibility.

It has an 8 megapixel camera on back paired with a 1.3 megapixel shooter up front, a 1.2GHz single-core Hummingbird processor, and still somehow promises to be the thinnest smartphone on AT&T when it launches at a to-be-determined date. Now, the controversy: despite the name, the Infuse 4G apparently doesn’t have a hint of LTE — it’s HSPA+, which means AT&T’s now playing the same game as T-Mobile and AT&T describing the Infuse 4G as being the carrier’s slimmest handset.

We feel that what used to be a standard 3.5-inch screen size is slowly shifted to larger measures, but let us know your thoughts on having a 4.5 inch screen. The dummy unit displayed at the expo has a matte back cover, but it is still not decided if that will be the material of choice for the final unit. The Galaxy S on its part has glossy plastic on its back.

PhoneArena presents a thorough comparison of the LG Quantum and Samsung Focus. In this comparison we’re going to pit the LG Quantum against Samsung’s solid offering in the form of the Focus. On one hand, the Samsung Focus stands highly on its pedestal thanks to its gorgeous Super AMOLED display, while the LG Quantum offers the convenience of a physical QWERTY keyboard.

But when both are priced evenly at $199.99 with a contract, there can only be one that reigns supreme in the aftermath – leaving one to fend for itself when the dust settles. With that in mind, we take a meticulous look at what each device has to bring to the table. Visually, the two handsets have that slate look on the surface, but the LG Quantum actually utilizes a landscape sliding form factor that tucks away a keyboard. Although neither come off as not being seen as original, their designs are mostly recycled over from previous devices. Between the two, the Samsung Focus feels more bearable to carry around thanks to its streamlined looks (0.39” thickness) and light weight form factor (4.07 oz). Conversely, the LG Quantum’s 0.60” thick body and heavy load (6.21 oz) is more than recognizable when placed in a pocket.

Furthermore, viewing angles aren’t a problem for the Focus which makes it more superior to use in direct sunlight. But with the Quantum, the color black has a slight smokey look to it versus the pure black level exhibited with the Focus. Regardless of that, their touchscreens are more than ideal in accurately registering all of our touches.

Awaited launch of Google Nexus S the successor to the not so popular Google Nexus One is near, The Android based device will be available from Best Buy beginning when the store opens its doors at 8 a.m. The Best Buy, the authorized dealer for the phone, has released a statement with all the details about the launch.

The phone carries some of the Nexus One’s freelance ideas and will not be locked. Price comes at $529 for no ties and $199 if you decide to get the Nexus S with a two-year T-Mobile contract. The Nexus S will be the first phone with Android’s newest 2.3 Gingerbread version and even if its hardware is nothing revolutionary with a 1GHz Cortex A8 Hummingbird processor, there is still a lot of excitement about the changes happening to Android.

The Nexus S will also be compatible with quad-band GSM (3G) and tri-band HSDPA , which is crucial information for those who want to buy the unlocked version. What this means is that the unlocked version also be compatible with AT&T’s wireless network and any other that uses GSM and HSDPA. The nexus s will also offer Wi-Fi 802.11 n/b/g and Bluetooth 2.1 capabilities.

The design itself is somewhat similar to what the Google Nexus One was, although this Nexus is manufactured by Samsung, not HTC. Because it is manufactured by Samsung, the nexus S offers a 4-inch Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 480 by 800 pixels and 235 pixels per inch. The capacitive touchscreen is made from curved glass that Samsung designed so that the Nexus S fits in the user’s hand more comfortably. The glass is also coated with an anti-fingerprint layer.

The difference between this Nexus opening sale and the nexus One opening sale is that the Nexus S is not available for pre-order. Best buy will offer the smartphone to consumers on a first come basis, so if Google fans want one before they run out, then they better get to their nearest Best Buy as soon as they wake up. The smartphone will also be available at the Best Buy Mobile stores as well.

All Best Buy and Best Buy Mobile stores will have a Nexus S demo phone on-hand so customers can see and experience the phone.Online sales of Nexus S begin at 8 a.m. Eastern time to coincide with the opening of Best Buy stores on the East Coast. As a reminder, all Best Buy stores have adjusted their holiday hours to open at 8 a.m.

The Dell Streak has only just been released, but we have a full preview of Dell’s next big smartphone set to hit the market. It is called the Dell Thunder and Engadget has managed to obtain a couple of prototype devices before release.

A pre-release hands-on with the upcoming Dell Thunder has uncovered some unique details beyond what’s already been known. Engadget notes that the two prototypes it has both have unusual curved glass screens. The result is “gorgeous” and also has a unique effect that distorts the picture at extreme angles.

Over on their website, they have given us an early review of the device, since it is not expected to release until sometime next year. As with the Dell Streak, the Thunder is another Android device, and is set to ship with Android 2.1, although this could be upgraded to 2.2 closer to release.

The device should sport a 4.1 inch OLED display, 1GHz CPU, an 8 megapixel camera, as well as a Hulu app to boot. While the specs aren’t confirmed, any changes that happen to the Thunder will likely be for the better. The sides of the device are adored with curved chrome, which may be a bit iPhone-like.

Network support is also a surprise. The testing code appears to support use on all North American and major international GSM frequencies. The second of the two phones makes mention of Qualcomm CDMA and also makes references to AWS, though it has yet to be clarified if these are separate references to Sprint/Verizon (CDMA) and T-Mobile (GSM) phones or to possible phones on CDMA carriers like Cricket that also use the AWS band.

The prototypes are also running stock Android 1.6, but we suspect the device will ship with Android 2.2 Froyo pre-installed, seeing as how it is suspected to come with Flash 10.1 support. The UI on the Streak, dubbed the Stage UI, is not over-done, so it won’t be a completely different experience if you’re coming from stock Android.

Based on the last available roadmap, Dell would ship the Thunder to AT&T sometime in the fall.

Dell has just given up the last bits of info on its Streak MID and today a new video of a prototype device dubbed the Thunder has surfaced. Engadget reports that the Thunder was first seen in photos back in April, but now the publication has video to go along with the stills.

The rumored specs are very impressive, obviously when the Thunder is released it may differ slightly, however we are reliably informed to expect a 4.1 inch OLED display supporting a resolution of 800 x 480, an 8 megapixel camera, a removable 1,400mAh battery, Android 2.1 Eclair and Dell’s customer user interface.

The Thunder has a nice 8MP digital camera with an LED flash and can record video in 720p resolution. The device also sports a removable 1400 mAh battery. The prototype in the video is running Android 2.1 and the finished product is expected to have a custom Dell UI on top. The device has a screen measuring 4.1-inches with a resolution said to be 800 x 480 or higher. That screen is also thought to be OLED.

Other details are currently unknown, however in the video a Q4 2010 release is mentioned and by the looks of things the Thunder could become a real competitor in the smartphone market.

Huawei did not lose any technological field to compete with large companies is that their last contribution was a mobile WiFi router, the Huawei E583C, a router with all the features you need to navigate safely from your mobile.

The wonder of this WiFi router is the ability to convert a signal 3.5G wireless laptop that will have the ability to connect up to five devices simultaneously via WiFi and up to 6 if the sixth is connected via a USB cable to the router Huawei E583C, such as a laptop.

If we talk about the speeds that can reach the router would have a maximum speed of 7.2 Mbps downlink and 5.76 Mbps upstream. For more comfortable you know if the operation is correct E583C Huawei only have to look at all the information on your screen OLED displays.

Although I have to emphasize that what I like about this router is its design, classic, elegant and with a cool touch that makes it more fun by bringing cash finishes. Unfortunately we still can not get in Europe but I assure you that if successful will soon be hanging around here.

The E583C will be available from August, and sold through digital equipment retail stores and retail outlets at major computer shopping malls in Hong Kong. The suggested retail prices of the two device is HK$1,380(Check out new prices and buy it from Amazon).

Some of you probably won’t remember the phone by its model number that showed up in a Bluetooth SIG profile a while ago, but the Samsung SGH-i897 was believed to be an AT&T-bound phone thanks to some McGyver-like work showing that the model number’s structure matched up with past Samsung devices on AT&T.

The handset comes with a 4-inch AMOLED display – just hope that it does not have stock issues like the HTC Droid Incredible – and a 5-megapixal camera. Other features include that ever-popular 1GHz Snapdragon processor – sounds very much like the Google Nexus One when you look at those specs.

It is said that the Samsung i897 will come with Android 2.1 and that AT&T will not touch its interface – meaning consumers will get the full Android experience. If this is true then the smartphone will get an update to Android 2.2 Froyo much sooner than many other handsets.

This is all the information available for the moment, but we are certain that more details will follow soon. No word on when it might launch, but it’s expected to be sooner rather than later.

Lenovo launched its LePhone mobile phone on the Chinese market, the company’s handset powered by Google’s Android operating system. The Chinese computer maker is aiming at expanding its reach to the mobile Internet services area, and the launch of LePhone is one step the company makes in this direction.

The device is an Android 2.1 powered smartphone that offers a large AMOLED display. Lenovo’s chief operating officer, Rory Read, told The Wall Street Journal that Lenovo plans to target both enterprise and consumer customers and hopes to sell millions of phones during the next five years and “tens of millions,” thereafter.

Another interesting thing to note is that Lenovo is calling the OS LEOS, which could stand for simply “Lenovo OS.”
