Its confirmed that Samsung Epic 4G will go on sale bright and early tomorrow morning at a Sprint store near you. A mass email was blasted out, saying that Sprint stores will be opening at 8 a.m. local time on Tuesday to start selling the Epic 4G.

The smartphone comes with a 1 GHz processor, a QWERTY keyboard with spaced out keys, in addition to a 4-inch AMOLED touchscreen display, 5 megapixel camera as well as HD video capture. Reports sat that the slider Epic 4G also comes with support for customers who use Sprint’s 4G WiMAX network. Besides this, the device can be used along with Sprint TV and also Amazon’s MP3 Store, plus Android’s Market apps.

The Epic 4G has a large 4-inch Super AMOLED touchscreen display that provides brighter, thinner, and higher-resolution than traditional screens. Samsung’s innovative display technology makes watching movies, viewing videos and playing games come to life like never before, even in bright light and outdoor environments. And messaging is simple and easy with the Epic 4G’s side-sliding full QWERTY keyboard as well as the included virtual QWERTY keyboard with Swype technology, which allows you to input text faster and in a more intuitive way with one continuous finger motion across the screen keyboard.

Running the Android 2.1 operating system, the Epic 4G brings one-touch access to the popular Google mobile services millions use every day, including Google Search by Voice, YouTube and Picasa. The Epic 4G also provides easy access to both personal and corporate email, calendars, and contacts supported by Exchange Server and Gmail. And through Android Market, you’ll get access to thousands of useful applications, widgets and fun games to download and install on your phone, with many more apps being added every day.

With built-in mobile hotspot functionality, the Epic 4G also allows up to five Wi-Fi-enabled devices–including laptop, camera, music player, video player and any other Wi-Fi-enabled device–to enjoy the benefits of 4G speeds on the go. Other features include music downloads from the Amazon MP3 Store, microSD memory expansion (16 GB card included; optional 32 GB cards supported), HDMI audio/video output, and up to 6 hours of battery life.

This will not please those who have already pre-ordered the device, which started a few weeks ago now. The online store giant is offering the Epic 4G for just $199.99 for a two-year contract. That is not only cheaper than Sprint, but Best Buy as well.

The new phone has a market value of $249.99 which is inclusive of a warranty period of two years during which the buyer can return it to the store where they bought it for extra service. Additionally, users of this device have to pay about $10 when using its 4G data.

Check out new price of Samsung Epic 4G and pre-order it from Amazon.

HTC Droid Incredible Froyo(Android 2.2) Update to Hits Vodafone Today : After expecting Verizon to roll out the Android 2.2 Froyo update to the HTC Droid Incredible on September 1st, and then having the date retracted from the source all together, we were beginning to lose hope that the Incredible would get some Froyo love anytime soon. Well, this time we have a leaked document from Verizon saying that the roll out for the device will begin today, August 27th.

As usual a roll out comes gradually, so it could very well take a couple of more days to hit your handset. OTA updates are pushed in batches, so worry not if your Incredible hasn’t been Froyo’d tomorrow. From the looks of the document, we were dead on with the new features for the Incredible, and you should expect to see 720p HD video recording, and a 3G Mobile Hotspot option that will allow you to share your connection with 5 other devices. Too bad the poor thing will probably die within the first hour with the Mobile Hotspot draining the battery of its life-giving juice.

Earlier in last month, we’ve updated our readers about the Android 2.2 Froyo update to roll out in August for HTC Desire where as other HTC Smartphones HTC DROID Incredible, HTC Evo 4G will get Android 2.2 Froyo at later stages. Few HTC Desire users downloaded the unofficial Android 2.2 Froyo in last month from XDA-Developers in last month it self.

Fortunately, Flash 10.1 support, automatic application updating, and all of the other great features you’d come to expect from Froyo will be present in this upcoming HTC Incredible Android 2.2 update. Expect an overall snappier experience, thanks to the JIT compiler, and a much faster browsing experience with the updates Android web browser, courtesy of the new JavaScript V8 Engine.

Goggles was unveiled by Google last December as a way for users to search the Web using the camera on their mobile phone. It was later added as a built-in application in the company’s Android mobile operating system. The Goggles works, when a photo within the app, it’s sent to Google, where it’s cross-referenced with a database of billions of images. Google then returns search results for that item–that is, if it can find a match.

Google has now said that they are working on a version for the Apple iPhone which might get a release before the end of the year.

Velocity Micro is now taking orders for two Android tablets the company first introduced a little over a month ago. One is marketed as a 7 inch color eBook reader, while the other is pitched as a multipurpose Android tablet. Both are available for pre-order today, but won’t ship until early September.

Velocity Micro has just placed its Cruz Reader and Cruz Tablet up for pre-order at Borders, with both units boasting 7-inch displays and seductive price points. The Reader is going for $199.99 and should ship out by the end of next month, while the Tablet is $100 more and could be at your doorstep a fortnight before Halloween.

The tablet has 802.11n WiFi, and a Lithium Ion battery which Velocity Micro says is good for 10 hours of run time. But the thing that’s probably most exciting about this tablet is the 7 inch, 800 x 480 pixel capacitive touchscreen display.

The Cruz Reader model runs Android 2.0 and comes with 256MB of RAM and 256MB of internal storage. This model comes with a 4GB SD card, 802.11b/g WiFi, and a 10 hour battery. It has a 7 inch 800 x 600 pixel display, but there’s no mention of what kind of screen it uses.

The Cruz Reader and Cruz Tablet also ship with an eBook reader which lets you access the 2 million digital books in the Borders online book store which is powered by Kobo.

Trillian launched the beta version of its multiprotocol instant-messaging client for Android on Thursday. Trillian for Android brings many of the desktop program’s core features to Android 1.6 and above, including tabbed chats, emoticons, and support for a broad range of instant-messaging services.

Over the coming weeks we will be fixing bugs and crashes, working to heavily optimize speed and performance, and finalizing our ’service’ infrastructure to improve the reliability of background notifications.

Beta testers should expect a few bumps and crashes along the way as we begin our full test on all of the many possible Android devices! As with the BlackBerry edition, Trillian for Android is a time-limited beta and will expire between releases. You will need to be running the latest version at all times to stay connected. Stay tuned to our blog for future updates, and thanks for using Trillian.

The app will work with AIM, Facebook Chat, Windows Live Messenger, Yahoo Messenger, Google Talk, ICQ, Jabber, WLM, and MySpaceIM, and because it natively supports Android 1.6, it will work with the original Android handset G1. People with phones running more recent versions will receive better resolution graphics, according to the company. Current Trillian users will be able to automatically load their accounts on the phone using Trillian’s Astra syncing service.

Overall Trillian beta seems to get the job done. If you’re logged into Trillian but the app isn’t open, a notification will pop up in the Android status bar when a new message comes in. When you’re in the chat window you can see tabs at the top of the screen with a list of current chats, allowing you to easily flip between conversations.

Trillian for Android is ready for public beta testing! Learn more about this exciting new release of Trillian and grab your early beta copy here.

The Froyo update will be available for Droid Incredible owners on Wednesday, August 18, according to Mashable’s unnamed sources. Verizon Wireless team members are reportedly using the new version of Android on their phones already.

We’ve heard from our sources that the Verizon team members already have Froyo installed on their Droid Incredibles. Now the update is essentially ready for primetime. Froyo has been making its way onto some of the most popular Android handsets in recent weeks. The HTC Evo 4G, the Motorola Droid and the Nexus One have the updated OS.

Android 2.2 is arguably the most substantial upgrade yet for Google’s mobile operating system. In addition to supporting Flash 10.1 and faster processing speeds, Froyo delivers Wi-Fi hotspot capabilities, new voice commands and “Chrome to Phone” syncing.

The Droid Incredible currently uses the Android 2.1 operating system but although a jump to 2.2 looks pretty small, it is actually a major upgrade. The main features that Droid Incredible owners will start to enjoy include the addition of 3G Mobile Hotspots which allow your phone’s 3G connection to be used as a wireless link to any other wireless enabled devices in it’s vicinity. Froyo also includes support for Adobe Flash 10.1 meaning you can now play feature rich flash games and also watch videos from websites such as Youtube without the need for the dedicated YouTube player if you prefer. Perhaps the biggest enhancement to Froyo is the speed increase in which operations are performed. Google boast that this increase could be anywhere between 2 and 5 times faster than in previous Android versions. This statement has been backed up by benchmarking software on phones already upgraded to Froyo.

Flash 10.1 support is enabled in Froyo, though the feature carries with it the capacity to jump one’s phone up into heavy heats and shorter battery life due to the required processing power. Another significant improvement comes from Android’s mobile browser, which has been kicked up a notch using the V8 Javascript Engine to make for faster page loads. Performance increases to the OS, as a whole, are reflected by a increase of five times the score on the Linpack benchmark versus Android 2.1.

Adobe confirmed this morning at the Flash Summit in San Francisco let it be known that Adobe AIR 2.5 will be available in the foruth quarter of 2010.

No exact dates, unfortunately, but at least it’s better than nothing. The more troubling thing, comes in the fact that Adobe isn’t talking about how AIR will be distributed, when the time comes. Whether it’s OTA for devices, or if you’ll be able to get your hands on it via the Marketplace is still unknown.

“The 2.x line has been about taking this broader,” Adobe said. “AIR is about building applications.”

Adobe noted that Nexus One owners running Android 2.2 can now see that Flash 10.1 has left beta stages and is available as a final release in the Android market. There’s no way for anyone else to check this right now as Flash 10.1 comes preinstalled for the Android 2.2 version of HTC Sense and for the Motorola Droid 2, so there’s no market entry when browsing from these devices.

Samsung may launch a 7-inch Android tablet based on its new Galaxy S line of phones, in a few weeks at the IFA 2010 consumer electronics show in Berlin.

The tablet, which may be called the P1000 Galaxy Tab, is reported to have a front-facing camera for video calls, something lacking in Apple’s iPad, but available on the iPhone 4. It’s not yet clear whether the Samsung tablet will go on sale first in Europe, when it will be available in the United States, and what its cost will be.

However, no news about the tablet actually coming out, however.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab P1000 is expected to arrive with a 7-inch Super-AMOLED screen, powered by a 1.2-GHz-Cortex A8-Prozessor, running Android 2.2, dual cameras, and support for 3G, GPS and Wi-Fi.

The Samsung tablet would also support Adobe Flash, which is used to watch Web videos and animations. Apple has resisted using Flash for the iPad and iPhone, citing issues with battery drain, security and stability.

Google recently announced Voice Actions for Android 2.2+ phones which allow you to control actions like sent text and email, navigate and find businesses, call contacts, plus search all by speaking to your phone.

Vlingo points out in a blog post that its voice-product overlaps Google’s Voice Actions in many areas and offers similar functionality. To compete with the Google application, Vlingo is now offering its Android version for free so Android users can effectively compare the feature-sets of the two products.

Vlingo offers a few advantages over the competing offering from Google. Vlingo hints that Google has a vested interest in promoting its own services and content while Vlingo, as an independent developer, can mix and match services and mashup content from Google and other sources.

Vlingo also includes a few features that are not present in Voice Actions including SafeReader which reads your incoming texts and email messages. Vlingo is also available on other platforms such as the iPhone and the BlackBerry and, most importantly, on multiple versions of Android. As attractive as Google’s Voice Actions for Android may be, it is only available for Android 2.2 users.

It’s unsure how Vlingo will move forward with the app, there’s no apparent change in monetization strategy, but they’ve expressed plans to continue development and it’s still a nice win for Android users that don’t like Google’s own Voice Search, for some reason.

If you want to pick up a new app on an Android-based smartphone, you have one option with which to pay for your new purchase: Credit cards and Google Checkout. At least, for now, sources indicate that Google is chatting with eBay’s PayPal business to bring the latter as a secondary option for smartphone-based payments.

Android mobile phone users are expected to buy fastest to use PayPal application during this year. Through the integration of PayPal, Google is expected to attract more paying buyers. PayPal currently has 87 million active accounts.

Integrating Paypal would open up Android phones to the service’s 87 million active accounts, which would surely go a long way toward increasing the propensity of a user to pick up a new application on a whim, especially if the Paypal service is integrated into the mobile operating system in a similar style to how purchases work on Apple’s App Store.

PayPal and Google spokesman did not respond to messages for comment. Informed sources said the two companies are still negotiating, but not necessarily meeting the agreement.

According to the research firm Gartner, Google’s Android operating system is now the most popular piece of smartphone software in the United States. Sales of Android-based devices rank third of any smartphone in the world in 2010 thus far, nestled behind RIM and Symbian’s respective sales of 11.2 million and 22.3 million units. Apple’s iPhone sales rank fourth at 8.7 million, or a market share of 14.2 percent to Android’s 17.2 percent.

Apple iTunes users can purchase a key application, because their payment information already stored in Apple’s system. Google also provides similar services through the Checkout, but not as popular as iTunes and PayPal, which gives users some new obstacles.PayPal last quarter added 1 million users per month, contributing to 37% of eBay sales. PayPal previous quarter net income grew 22% to 817 million U.S. dollars.
