New Tablet Perspective: Toughness:

There must be something about thin tablets, given that they lead the market when it comes to devices and pcs, but perhaps the public and techno fans have take it for granted that other than the thinness, tablet durability might also be one factor to consider when buying tablets. Fortunately, not all tablet, desktop and mobile devices manufacturer concern themselves with the idea that thin is totally in.

Panasonic has decided to come up with a ruggedized Android tablet. Panasonic is known for its Toughbook notebooks, so it isn’t really surprising if the company has designed a touch shock resistant tablet.

The new design is deemed to be launched in 2012, and the target market for the product is not the same market that has popularized Android Honeycomb contingents like Samsung, Asus, Acer, Motorela, Toshiba and Sony. The target population then are people who may possibly give their tablets a rough environment, like those who are often outdoors and exploring.

This is of course good because the conventional market will probably turn a thumbs down to the tablet because they value thinness more.

The new Tough tablet, with a codename of CM111, is 10.1 inch with silver chassis, a number of hardware buttons upfront and wrapped with rubberised grip in the sides. It may not be as thin as the svelte and elegant iPad and Galaxy Tab 10.1 but the new unit is further designed to have a multi-touch matte-style display, one that’s good for viewing things under strong sunlight. It is also modelled to support stylus input but its 3G connectivity is optional.

So how tough is the new Toughbook tablet? CM111 will be definitely temperature tested, whether it can endure an 200 degree C oven heat atmosphere or it can outstand a cold dip in a -85 degree C water bath.

Another temperature test that will be run on the unit is whether it can also survive quick temperature changing environment. Other tests like spraying the tablet continuously with water while it’s turned on, and dropping it from a 120 cm height on slabs of concrete and wood will also be done on the tough tablet. All these procedures are actually the qualifying processes for all Panasonic Toughbook notebooks, thus, it is just logical that the same will be given to the tablet as well.

If CM111 will get through all these tests, then welcome launch for the product should be already organized as early as now.

The thriving industry of smartphones and its related devices has created the technology driven world into somewhat more of a fantasy than the real one.

Almost all of the world’s largest industries have entered the virtual world of technology by venturing into its different aspects of where they can have the most gain.

While it can be argued that there’s nothing wrong in this trend, still we should not forget that we are real people who should face the real challenges in the world.

Speaking of challenges, what can be more challenging for the other phone carriers in the US with the announcement of LTE that they won’t be providing the 4G broadband network compatibility for them?

Good thing, the anticipated Samsung Illusion is included in the Verizon LTE lineup.

We have recently seen the leaked photo of this smartphone on Verizon. This is known as the Viper or SCH-I110. It runs with Gingerbread which feature includes the 800MHz CPU and a 480 x 320 HVGA smaller-screen display.

Its Sustainable Product Certification indicates that it has least addition of eco-friendly features.

But turning back to the issue of other carriers, it can be noted that Big Red and AT&T separately owns a block of 700MHz spectrum each that resulted to limited phones to be carried on both networks.

Add to that are the 1700MHz wave by MetroPCs and the 1500MHz of LightSquared.

This only implies that it’s less likely or not easy to have a very good roaming status in the country.

Many of us are disappointed with HP’s announcement on the discontinuation of the production of devices that runs with webOS.

After a week, the confirmation of Choi Gee Sung, Samsung’s CEO adds up to this disappointment by putting to rest the speculations of webOS deal. Although this rather sounds frustrating, the team at CM provides us with better solution.

With the straight to the point cut, CyanogenMod 7 for Android suggests that it will run better for your stagnant Touchpad.

Apparently, this platform will provide a more functional Wifi access, faster audio and operational accelerometer with easy access to Android Market.

However, the code is yet to be revealed by the team as they are currently configuring the Hamsterdance effect. In that case, we have to wait and hope for a faster development.

Meanwhile, there is a plan for webOS to receive split global business units.

Apparently, the two units specifically webOS software will be moved to the Office of Strategy and Technology, whereas the hardware division will go to the Personal Systems Group. The splitting of webOS units is viewed to optimize their technology.

But there is another hint that webOS will remain as the major platform for the HP Company.

Whether what move HP is going to make, we are petty sure that they are going to make the best move for their company.

But as a consumer, we can’t close our eyes to the other options offered by other developers. In this crucial moment, only one virtue will stand, it’s either loyalty or practicality.

Apple’s iPad 2 awed several techno interested consumers when it was first released in March.

It just seemed impossible to have something light and thin, packed with a lot of apps and software that highly reflect extensive technology.

But Samsung’s Galaxy Tab 10.1 showcased during Google I/O conference surpassed iPad 2 in its dimension.

Everyone thought that Galaxy Tab 10.1 would be the thinnest tablet for some time, unfortunately for Samsung, Toshiba showed them that they can do even better with the new Toshiba AT200 tablet.

To really compare the three and decide which among them is the best.

It may perhaps be better to actually take a look beyond their thin dimensions and consider as well their weights and features in detail.

To start with, all three tablets have dual-core processors and 10.1 displays and it might just be difficult to see which is more advantageous or not. The following detailed descriptions account for a comparison among the three tablets.

iPad 2 measures 241.2 x 185.7 x8.8 mm. Its’ WiFi model weighs around 601 grams while its’ WiFi + 3G model weighs about 613 grams.

Clearly, the newer iPad model emphasizes the fact Apple has leapt widely from its last iPad design.

The thin quality seemed just so appealing to users that Samsung decided to also make their tablet design more thinner than iPad 2.

Samsung’s Galaxy Tab 10.1, being thinner than iPad 2 is of course lighter in weight, being about 4 to 5 % lighter than iPad 2.

A plus factor is the idea that Samsung’s Galaxy Tab 10.1 already has both WiFi and 3G connectivity, whereas in iPad 2, the consumer would still need to choose which between the WiFi version and WiFi and 3G version would they avail.

Although the Galaxy tab is relatively longer than iPad 2 with a length of 256.7 mm, it still has some advantage over iPad 2 because it’s 0.2mm lesser in its width, the actual width being 175.3 mm only.

But Samsung probably did not expect that another much thinner tablet might just take away their bragging rights from them.

As for the moment, Toshiba is king of the tablet market. Its’ AT200 model is not only thinner than the other two tablets but is rather technically smaller and lighter than the two in almost every way.

Measuring just about 256 x 176 x 7.7 mm and weighing just 558 grams, Toshiba’s AT200 is 0.9 mm thinner than Galaxy Tab 10.1 and 1.1 mm thinner than iPad 2.

Considering this, it does not seem to matter that it is 0.7 mm wider than the Galaxy Tab 10.1. The depth dimension definitely rules over width and length.

Although thin does not mean best, it is just interesting to note how technology has made these gadgets possible.

And Apple, with its strong reputation for making incredible technology might have a run for its money, what with Samsung and Toshiba only a very few steps behind it in the technology world.

Maybe you’d like to think about this and give your perspectives.

Do you think Apple’s next tablet would be better in the thin department than Toshiba’s AT200? And what do these latest gadgets tell people about the gadgets’ build strength? Your opinions are always welcome.

Here are 4 top best picks for android apps you should find good:

During our previous discussions we have given you the list of best apps for the month of August, and today as we have come to a new month – September, we will not forget to give you the four best apps for your Android phones:

1. Widget Locker Lock screen:

This app allows you to replace anything from your lock screen. So far, this is one of the best featured app this month, not only due to convenience, but also due to the security it provide.

Firstly, you can drag and drop any widgets you like to interact in your lock screen, which means that you can have a quick glance of information without having to spend too much time in clicking, dragging and dropping.

Secondly is that, this lock screen app can help you avoid any accidental interactions. It is available in Android Market at $1.89.

2. Quota:

This Android app is developed by South Freo. Apparently, this app offers tracking of your balances like the phone, internet, Skype, currency, stock values, Fly Buys, Everyday rewards and CineBuzz.

3. SMS Scheduler:

This app is totally free by the lylynx.com. This is very useful in scheduling SMS.

Like for example you have an important message for your employee or a classmate, but the time is very unreasonable, so you just have to type the message in your phone and set the message to be sent at the specific time you want that message to be received by the recipient.

Add to that, the SMS scheduler write the SMS to the system database, that makes it greater than other scheduling apps.

4. Titanium Media Sync:

This is very cool. You can have a backup of all your apps, photos, videos and downloads right into your drop box.

So, if you are bored and tired of your current apps, don’t waste time in extending your patience with the old apps. Add color and life to your smartphone by adding these highly recommended Android apps.

The Google+ app button has created a stir for Android fans. The app is very impressive as it is hitting the benchmarks for clicks over the other social networking apps.

Although it is admittedly thought that this will be too early for Google to venture into its very own social network, it seems that there is already a stemming problem for iOS based devices.

This is for the reason that currently no apps for iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch are available. It means that the user experience and special notifications will be limited for the user of the said devices.

If the current status will remain for a long time, then it will give us enough reason to suspect that Google might have plans to overtake the big social networking sites (Twitter and Facebook) by giving exclusive features for Android apps.

By then, we can note that iOS apps might lose their popularity.

On the other hand, we still do have the benefit of the doubt. This recent issue can be either caused by the delay of approving the app on the side of Apple or Google has not yet submitted an app to the app store.

In any of these cases, we can say that it would be a cunning strategy for Google to promote Android.

In addition, the swarming products and services of Google are already dominating that can lead us to think that this might mark the fall of iOS and the rise for Android. Hopefully, Google will not be this cruel.

Do you think Google will give priority to Android apps than IOS apps?

iPhone 5, iCloud and iOS 5 VS Android:

In the recent quarter of this year, it was viewed that the sales of Android Mobile OS is slogging.

According to the recorded statistics of ChangeWave survey, it shows that only 32% of the consumers are planning to buy the Android OS (Google) devices in the next 90 days, while a larger 46% are planning to buy the iOS (Apple) devices and a far behind 4% for Blackberry OS (RIM) devices.

It can be noted that in terms of market share, Android Mobile OS devices seem to be dominant, however due to the upcoming iPhone 5, the iCloud service and iOS 5 the dominant standing of Android OS is currently destabilizing by ranking only next to iOS in the said survey.

Apparently, these results are direct effects of the consumer’s continuing demands on smartphones and mobile OS as well.

Considering the anticipation of the people for the release of Apple’s 5th generation iPhone, the upcoming service of iCloud and iOS 5 and their claimed satisfaction to Windows 7, we can almost say that there’s no greater and better than the service we can get with Apple.

Add to that is the increasing popularity of Apple that helps in utilizing its dominance are already a crystal-clear factor for both consumers and their rivals.

In my own view, it’s quite normal to see Android Mobile OS struggling at this point against iOS because the market as always is an arena of challenges where everyone is taught to compete with each other as hard as they can, in order to improve.

For now, we have seen that Apple is just right in applying the formula to success.

So, which smartphones are you going to buy, iOS, Android or Blackberry?

Have you spent your time looking for the nicest tablet in town? Well, you better take a look and check on this Android Gingerbread tablet.

Recently, we have been sighting for Google’s tablets and gladly we’ve found one that is truly extraordinary not only with its extra-low price, but with its powerful design and performance.

This is Ingenium 2.3 tablet that completes the list of Android tablets in the market. It features a 7-inch capacitive multi-touch screen in 800×480 screen display with Telechips TC8803 1.2 GHz Cortex processor and 512 RAM.

It runs on Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS with an on-board 4GB memory, but can be increased up to 32 GB through a microSD card.

Its connectivity provides HDMI port, mini USB, USB dongle and 3G supports.

Moreover, this tablet has a front-facing 0.3 megapixel camera which allows video calls and video chat. But , it doesn’t have a rear side camera of which not a problem for a tablet. Have it been designed with a rear camera, it would be awkward to snap a photo with a tablet high in the air.

Apparently, this tablet is now available for only $192. But if you buy three or more of this tablet you can get each for $183.

A huge discount isn’t it? On the other hand, you can also but this tablet online at Chinavasion.com with a 1-year warranty.

In general, this tablet may go well with students, academicians and business people, although it’s not a quite hardcore type tablet. This is very accommodating for people who are looking for a quality device with no extra pocket requirements.

Want to get longer battery life on your android smartphone? Of course you do!

A draining battery and empty ones are the most frustrating experiences we usually have with our devices.

We can’t just throw and dump our phones off because of this light reason. Now, as you can see, the real problem stems from the immediate loss of battery energy.

So, the extension of battery life must be the solution. Now, this is good news, here are helpful tips in charging your Android phone to extend battery life.

Tip #1. Turn Off Wi-fi and GPS and other apps.

When charging your Android phone, you must not until the battery becomes empty.

It is advisable to charge it more frequently, but you must take note that during your charging time, you should turn off anything that causes the heavy draining of the power of your battery.

So, our first tip for you is that you must turn off the Wifi, GPS and other apps that are not in use. By then, your phone gets enough power at faster rate.

Tip #2. Add a power control widget.

If ever your phone does not have the automatic icon notification window, then you must add a power control widget right through your phone’s home-screen for easy control and access.

You can add it by clicking on the “Menu>Add>Widgets>Power Control”

Tip #3. Dim The Light, Turn Off Vibrations.

Another way of reducing easy draining of your battery is that you can turn off or adjust the lights of your phone.

It will allow more power to be saved when lights on your phone is not in use, just like what we are doing in our own house. We practically turn off those lights that are unused to save energy.

The same principle applies in your phones.

One thing also is the use of vibrations. It is better to put your phone in a ringing mode than in a vibrating mode.

Tip #4. Get a battery extender case.

Many users have resorted to this phone accessory because it is very convenient and a real energy saver. You don’t have to worry about carrying your chargers or adapters.

The battery extender case stores extra energy that can be readily used up by your draining phone.

Motorola XT860 4G is Droid 3 no price or release date.

Sometimes it’s hard to be updated in with the new innovative talks and information about the different varying smartphones today.

But it could be more difficult remembering their names if it comes with a series of numbers and letters. That is what Bell, a Canadian carrier, has done with Motorola Droid 3.

The Motorola DROID 3 is one of the world’s thinnest Android QWERTY smart mobile cell phones today.

As of the moment Bell has not yet announced its cost or when this sophisticated smartphone will be released yet but it is confirmed that it would be Motorola XT860 4G.

If you think you would be confused with the series of alphanumeric characters then think of it this way, the Motorola XT860 4G that Bell will be releasing is exactly the same as the Motorola Droid 3 that hit Verizon Wireless earlier.

According to a press release, Bell stated that this summer the XT860 4G will be available therefore we will be expecting a release date within the next six weeks or so.

For the meantime, we will have to keep you updated for more information. But in terms of its cost it would be difficult for now, though currently Bell sell the HTC Sensation 4G for $149.95 as long as you agree a plan which costs a minimum of $50 per month, we think that the XT860 4G will be priced similarly.

If you are wondering why Motorola Droid 3, see the full specs over at Motorola.com.

You can see by the smartphone’s new name it connects to Bell’s HSPA+ 4G network, this allows for speeds of up to 42Mbps and is said to cover 96% of Canada’s population. You can find out more about Bell’s HSPA+ network here, apparently there LTE network is coming soon, however with speeds of up to 42Mbps we think its HSPA+ network is pretty desirable already.

Still thinking why purchase a Motorola XT860 4G?

Let me point out that as it connects to Bell’s 4G network we can be assured of the future, in fact even when Bell’s LTE network goes live 4G speeds should be sufficient.

Also if you are uncomfortable with the on-screen keyboard this smartphone features a notable QWERTY slider and a 1GHz dual-core processor has been thrown in for good measure.

While I still have your attention might as well let me reveal its massive 4-inch qHD display and 8 megapixel camera which captures video at 1080p.

Looking more deeply into the specs you will see that it has more than everything you want from an impressive smartphone, Android 2.3 Gingerbread pulls everything together to make it a joy to use.

We will keep you posted once we will hear of pricing and release date information. Now, will you upgrade to the Bell Motorola XT860 4G or wait for LTE?
