However, the new Microsoft device will only be in its basic form from the start, with multitouch functionality coming at a later update.

Neowin has heard from an insider source of their own that Microsoft plan to launch the Arc Touch Mouse in September 2010, though a specific timeframe within that month is unknown. The Arc Touch Mouse’s functionality is tipped to initially launch with single-touch functionality only, though a multitouch upgrade seems likely.

Details of the Arc Touch Mouse began surfacing in early July as several European retailers began publishing listings for a “Microsoft Arc Touch Mouse”.

That’s in addition to the Mac Pro’s usual niceties, such as 802.11 a/b/g/n wireless networking, Gigabit Ethernet, Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR, and more.

Configuration is one area where Apple’s 12-core Mac Pro is especially impressive. Customers can update the processor from the 2.66GHz model to a 2.93GHz version. They can also include up to 32GB of RAM, add a RAID card, and install several more hard drives. Given the power of the system, it might also be a good idea to update the computer’s graphics cards to the dual ATI Radeon HD 5770 option. For those who want a single card, the ATI Radeon HD 5870 is also available.

The 12-core configuration of the Mac Pro starts at $4999(Check out new prices and buy it from Amazon); customers can also upgrade to a faster pair of 2.93GHz 6-Core processors as a customize-to-order option, for an additional $1200.
SkinnyBytes has unveiled a new lineup of PoE Computers which are AIO (All-In-One) ranging in sizes from 8.9” to 18.5”. As these systems are powered via Power-over-Ethernet they do not require AC power outlets. AC electrical power is expensive to install, and is far more dangerous than the low-voltage DC power provided by PoE. The significant cost savings coupled with a TouchScreen interface make these systems ideal for business and schools.

On account of being Power-over-Ethernet, the need for AC power outlets in order to operate these devices is eliminated. This feature is cited to reduce power consumption of the gadgets considerably, thus rendering them eco-friendly. PCs in this series flaunt touchscreen interfaces and make use of low-voltage power supplied through standard network cable. Each of the computers comes pre-loaded with the Windows 7 OS as well.

A touchscreen display interface is also included on the Windows 7-powered machines to make them keep up with the times, making them ideal for business and schools. Since these PoE computers are compatible with IEEE standard 802.3at for Power-over-Ethernet, you will be able to enjoy a reduction in power requirements of up to 90% when compared to other traditional computing systems – bear in mind that this figure was reached by SkinnyBytes themselves using an in-house benchmark, so do take that figure with a pinch of salt. It does help that each PoE machine will be aided by power saving technologies such as the use of solid state drives, a low-power Intel Atom processor, LED backlighting, and passive cooling technologies.

The 18.5” PoE touchscreen AIO Elite is priced at $999(Check out new prices and buy it from Amazon) on the company’s official site. The pricing will vary according to user-selected configuration options.

Dell Studio XPS 9100 features an Intel Core i7-980x processor clocked at 3.33Ghz, up to 24GB of DDR3 RAM, a Radeon HD 5970 graphics card with 2GB of RAM. Of course, this configuration is going to run you quite the premium considering the base model features only a 2.66GHz Core i7-920 processor and a Nvidia GeForce G310 graphics card with 512MB of RAM.

The new Studio XPS 9100 looks just the same as its predecessor on the outside and sports the same basic options and ports, internally there’s a 525W power supply with enough juice for a Radeon HD 5970 2GB graphics card (a $580 option) and slots for up to 24GB of DDR3 memory.

The base model, as described above will retail for $950 while the much beefier configurations will retail for well over $2,000. Check out new prices and buy it from Amazon.
