Are you having problems with those intruders in your wireless network? Have you ever wished to put a stable security system for your network so that people will no longer leech on its services? Well, that’s not a problem anymore. We are providing you with these helpful tips in securing your wireless network.

1. You have to position strategically your antenna in a place where the signal is restricted to go further than the area required. Do not place the antenna near to a window, place it in the central location of the building instead.

2. Use a Wireless encryption protocol (WEP) to effectively encrypt traffic on a wireless network. You should never skip this encryption so that hackers will not get any opportunity to access to the traffic. This technique is the customary technique done in securing a wireless network.

3. SSID or the Service Set Identifier is the recognition thread utilized by the wireless access point that enables the customers to start accessing connections. In order to secure your wireless network, you may change the SSID by choosing an exclusive and unique SSID. You may add the disabling of broadcast SSID over the antenna. The result of this is that it will hide your network in the listings offered while it still provides services to you.

4. You can also disable your DHCP so that hackers can’t easily enter your network.

5. You may also change or disable your private and public community SNMP settings. This way hacker will find difficulty in getting your information on your wireless network.

6. If employing an access list is supported by your access point, then you may utilize this as additional security for your network.

Lastly, if some of the terms and ideas are not familiar to you, you may ask someone whom you think knowledgeable on this subject. But be careful and ask only someone whom you trust.

What if Google bought twitter?

Launching Google+ may have disputed the rumors that google is looking into buying Twitter, but that does not mean that such is actually the end of these possibilities.

For one, although Google had attracted more than25 million users in August, Twitter still has more, with a record of 300 million in May. Reason two pertains to relevance.

The social web is slowly turned into a site for product recommendations and others. This is because using the usual search engines just sometimes proves to be inefficient when trying to look for such information.

Google+ had made real-time search results for this case but Twitter being a social web modelled after such advertising scenario still takes the lead in the game.

Two questions however arise from this event. First, would this benefit Twitter? Well the action can cut costs and Twitterr will surely benefit from Google’s infrastructure.

The $8 billion to $10 billion price Google may offer, would make Twitter’s bank balance robust. Integrations of Google’s services like Google Talk and Gmail will make Twitter more useful and more popular as well.

But any deal may be scrutinized by anti-trust regulators and the rivals will probably react if Google will actually attempt to get into social search too, as it is already king of the web search.

Second, what can Goolgle really possibly do to Twitter? It might ruin Twitter as it is difficult to integrate the constructs of two entirely different companies.

If the integration goes bad, it may harm the successful real-time chat service that made Twitter a favourite among social search users.

Other than Google, are there any potential Twitter buyer just incase Twitter decided to sell? Well yes, but the potential buyers already have access to Twitter.

Microsoft for example has just renewed its Twitter search deal for Bing, while Apple has extensive Twitter integration in iOS 5.

Amazon too already uses the service for its Kindle users’ book ratings while and eBay isn’t as keen on buying another communications firm after letting go of Skype.

Given such scenario, and the price tag of $10 million, the best that Google can actually do is either bring back the real-time search feature I had that included Twitter’s “firehose” of content or just buy access to the social web instead of reaching for Twitter ownership.

Are reading emails soon to be extinct? Not yet..

The first to go in the written communication era were post mails, although a few people still use post mail to contact others and to send important documents.

Post mail services have almost died out due to the over popular communication means through electronic mail or email. Today webmail however is going for a dramatic dive to the pits due to mobile devices invading the technology market.

But this does not entirely mean that emails are dying out. What this only implies is the fact that people are relying less on webmail and desktop options when they check their emails.

Instead, they try to connect to their email accounts using their iDevices like their iPhones and iPad. This is of course, at the expense of web based providers, but with advance technology, the providers cannot really complain.

Further research by Litmus’ Email Analytics showed that in the past year alone, the email behaviour of most users have changed, with 150% of emails opened through mobile devices.

What is surprising however is the fact that although people use their mobiles to access their email accounts, Outlook and Apple Mail have still maintained a steady hold over usage because of its applications, giving problems again to webmail popularity.

Speaking of webmail popularity, Litmus’ Email Analytics also looked into the browser preferences of webmail users.

The company found out that the Internet Explorer browser is the browser most preferred by those who use Yahoo! Mail and Hotmail while Firefox (in the lead), Internet Explorer and Google Chrome are in a close tie in when it comes to the preferences of Gmail users.

The other communication means that are considered to be part of the trending electronic lifestyle are SMS, social media and IM.

Much of these communication processes are also accessed through mobile devices thereby emphasizing the fact that the mobile devices are really taking the lead in the communication process.

The 13% of all email accounts have been even opened through again the iDevices, thus, needless to say, mobile are really getting much used for email access.

Clearly then, given these facts and findings, email usage is not near extinction yet. People still rely on the comforts email can offer its users. In fact, by 2014, it is estimated that about 3 billion people will be using electronic emails worldwide.

Arturo Castro, a Spanish Computer Engineering graduate and a current artist in the video entitled “Faces” has pioneered the application of face cloning in real-time.

Apparently, he utilizes the Kyle McDonald’s ofxFacetracker and Jason Saragih’s facetracker library in creating the real-time face substitution footage.

These are C/C + + API for real-time generic non-rigid face alignment and tracking. He also used the image clone code created by Kevin Atkinson in attempting to also clone the cartoon faces, but the attempt didn’t work so well.

That’s why he is saying that for now his project is concentrated on cloning real people’s faces.

In the video, we can see the faces of other people being projected to his face that resulted to look like he is wearing a mask of many faces. Popular celebrities like Michael Jackson, Brad Pitt, Paris Hilton, Marilyn Monroe and even the President Barak Obama can be projected right into his face.

This made me freak, yet at the same time admired his ingenuity in realizing this idea.

According to Castro, he was inspired from the idea of taking someone else face from one camera and take another’s face in real-time.

This made some critiques say that this thing might create a new perception of stealing others identity. And if I may add to that, identity theft can then be done in ‘real-time’.

Basically, I don’t really get the good point of Castro’s idea in his project. If this is purely for fun, then surely it’s entertaining.

But we can’t deny the fact that projecting yourself from other people’s face is a crime of pretension and a disease called low self-esteem.

Lately, as we observe the ebb and flow of social networking, we have seen and noticed that people are becoming participative in this activity.

While we can identify that many were just as curious as others that’s why they have joined these social networking sites, still the main reason for joining a social network is to expand the network of friends, easy access to news and information and for personalizing the individual’s profile.

However, as we have seen the entrance of the search giant into the world of social networking, it is admitted that several views and opinions from different users have sparked.

One of these views was taken from the report of ABC News when they asked about the luring means of Google+ to invite facebook users.

While it is clear to say that Google+ is not yet a threat to Facebook, still it has a deadly weapon that may change the course of dominance in the social networking arena.

According to a tech analyst, the new feature of Google+, of which the features from Twitter, Facebook and Linked are being combined can be the strongest weapon of Google+ to lure the users to join the site and claims that this feature will stand out from the rest of the features that other sites may offer.

These claims may be possible as users are currently confused on whether or not to tweet and post something, so an all-in-one service is very feasible to lure more users.

Moreover the neat, minimalist and professional approach of Google+ gained praises from its mainstream users. With that reason, we can now understand why the month old Google+ have reached the 20 million users in a very short time.

Recently, the Activision is calling the attention of all Call of Duty fans to join the Call of Duty XP 2011. This is a two-day special fan fest that will be held on September 2 and 3 in Los Angeles, California. The video game publisher has named it as “the Ultimate Call of Duty experience”.

At the eurogamer.net, an article of Robert Purchese has given us information about the tickets.

It will be on sale starting July 19 and it will be priced at $150. Apparently, the total tickets to be released are 6,000. This is sold not only within the residents of US and Canada, but also to those who live outside.

It has strict age policy that only 18 years old and above will be allowed to get into the event. It is also being reported that the venue of the event will be taken place in a massive 12-acre compound. This huge area gives more room for Activision to recreate the popular video game series in a life-size battlefield.

The games that the participants can enjoy to participate include Modern Warfare 2, Modern Warfare 3, and Call of Duty: Elite and Call Of Duty: Black Ops.

All of these games will provide fans with insights, first-hand experience and a chance of winning the big prizes.

One good reason for putting up this two-day expo is that all proceeds from the sales of the tickets will go to the Call of Duty Endowment Charity. This charity is helping the war veterans in coping up with civilian life.

So, are you going to attend in this fan fest?

The web search giant is thriving these days. Just a week ago, we have felt the warm welcome of users for Google+. We are all amazed and thankful for this service. This is just totally awesome that perhaps some of you may be are thinking for more updates like your Gmail account.

Well, if that’s what you want, we are pleased to inform all Gmail users that you too will receive an update to the look and feel of your account. Recent reports states that Google has confirmed that they are working for the new and improved version of Gmail.

Lately in a blog post, Jason Cornwell, a Google User Experience Designer has announced that this move is part of Google’s aim to give a more focused, elastic and effortless experience to the users. However, we will see the said changes in a gradual state as they want to hear and listen more from the feedbacks of the users.

Well, I can say that’s a wise thing to do. Not only it will save time and effort, it will also give a greater room for improvements.

Add to that, this bit-by-bit approach will allow the integration and incorporation of those feedbacks in the redesigning of Gmail.

Although Google is yet silent about the features of the Gmail service, they have provided the sneak peek of the redesign Gmail layout. Gmail users were given opportunities to access its preview. And as far as we can see, the redesigning can be noticed in its “compose” button and mailbox area.

Finally, Google is paying attention more and more for the best things they can give to the users.

Sharing photos on twitter now get’s better…

Social media and networking is saturating the social aspect of society. While there can be a line that marks between the personal and virtual communication, we have seen today that the line between them is getting thinner as these two are widely done simultaneously.

However, we cannot blame technology for that seemingly social change. Let us just deal with it and allow ourselves to learn and observe how it may be helpful to us. For that case, let me bring some good news for Twitter users.

TwitPic is now helping the Twitter to improve the users’ media sharing. I pity those who say Twitter is boring with their twits and re-twits, wish that they may experience the fun, level up and security that TwitPic can share to them.

Basically, TwitPic is a site that allows Twitter users to share their media in real time. Its utilization is done by posting photos or videos to TwitPic from your phone, from the site, or through email.

It can be supported by using the TwitPic’s API. Accordingly, the API that is most preferred for accessing TwitPic features is the API v2 because it uses the authentication method created by Twitter which is the new OAuth Echo.

Moreover, TwitPic has API documentation. This API documentation enables the user to utilize a plain, easy and simple API for uploading images, videos and posting content that features full access to all aspects of the site. However, before the user can register and get their API Key, they must log in to Twitter first. Thus, calling all twitter users to try TwitPic.

The fourth generation of cellular wireless (4G) is the recent standard to the mobile internet access. At some point the facilitation of the Long Term Evolution (LTE) technology for wireless mobile services is rapidly getting into its deal to improve on its service quality while not adding too much cost on service network providers and users of mobile wireless.

Basically, the 4G LTE network of Verizon’s Wireless is months old in the business, but for a newbie, this network is amazingly a fast performer with its internal LTE modem. And along that line, the most recommended LTE modem as of today is the Novatel Wireless E362.

Novatel Wireless E362 is an embedded data card that is first approved by Verizon. Apparently, the user who intends to purchase this card will need to purchase a monthly data plan from Verizon. The installation of this card requires no service fee as it can be easily installed by the user. Accordingly, they can just unscrew some of those screws and fit the new cartridge. The installation process of this modem card is likely the same with older cartridges of Nintendo games.

Moreover, Novatel Wireless E362 modem card features the Qualcomm’s MDM9600 chipset that gives full support to the CDMA/EVDO network on both 850 MHz and 1900MHz bands. In addition, the GSM/GPRS on all four band frequencies with 42Mbps HSPA+ will provide the user full enjoyment and user quality, in case Verizon 4G LTE support is down.

Generally, all of these features sound good, except that its quite expensive.

Like the Heywire android app? Well, we have some news you should check out.

The age for the rise of smartphone devices indeed has come. With these devices, application developers seem to be the highest paid at this time. Could you imagine how they can make millions out of one application for this device? How much more, when those applications that they have developed will be updated? It means that there will be another level of cool features for these applications. Just like the Heywire Android Applications.

For that reason, good news for all Android-based device users who have previously downloaded the HeyWire mobile messaging application will encounter an update for the said application. Recently we have received some words that the hugely popular Android app has just been updated to version 2.0. All we can say is that it’s another breakthrough for Android.

It was lately noted over on the intomobile.com website by Dusan that the new update of Heywire app features Gtalk support, enabling users to chat with their Gmail friends while they are out and about. It also features an online Buddies screen, which enables the users to see who among their friends are currently online on each chat service.

Version 2.0 also features SmartSMS, which allow users to disable sound notifications and send auto responses during times when they want to be in quiet and private. The app now features a new user interface, so users can quickly access commonly used features such as SmartSMS and TweetNow.

The added TweetNow feature provides users with access to the HeyTweets feature in just one tap, enabling them to quickly and easily send Tweets on HeyWire via SMS. The updated application will also enable users to share content with friends using the ‘share via’ dialog on Android. You can get the app today over at the android marketplace.
