MacBook Air’s imperfection:

The trend of nowadays netbooks, laptops, and tablets are base on how skinny the gadgets are. The more skinny the more trendy, the more trendy the gadgets are the more possible to be bought in the market. The MacBook Air is the new product of apple that is super-thin. The Super-thin model of Apple has so many compromises which will appear less appealing to the customers.

Just for an instance:
1. Using 80GB iPod hard drive as system drive. Apple’s customers are much favoured to a thicker fashion of the MacBook rather than to have a skinny model that has an anorexic.
2. Non-expandable memory. The motherboard of the MacBook Air has a 2GB RAM, that’s too undersized memory for a notebook that’s worth 2,500-4,500 Australian Dollars.

3. 64GB flash memory as hard drive. As replacement for the hard drive memory is quite nice, the dreadful thing is that it is worth 1,400 Australian Dollars.

4. Single USB port. Without the USB hub with you or the extension cord, it cannot connect from one gadget to another. Branding MacBook Air as ultraportable notebook is already defeated.
5. No wireless broadband. Please Imagine, the trendy notebook that is so thin has no built-in broadband. It is quite mismatch for a thick broadband to connect in a single port notebook to have an internet connection.

6. Last Gen Processor. The latest processor of MacBook Air is equal to Core 2 Duo, Which means it is so slow version. Remember it doesn’t mean that when you’re using the word “latest” is equal to “better”.

7. No microphone port. Well of course you need to have a USB hub to connect.

8. Non-replaceable battery. If there’s already fussed in your notebook’s battery, expect to send it out the entire MacBook Air to Apple’s company.

9. Not that thin. Apple’s claimed that MacBook Air is the super-thin model of all competing notebooks. For the record, Fujitsu Q2010 is half a millimetre thicker than to MacBook Air. Thick a little bit but when we look the lifebook of Fujitsu it is more appealing than Mac Air.

10. No Ethernet Port. You need to have USB Ethernet adaptor just in case your router stops working.

What is super-thin yet anorexic? That’s the simple point for those who still want to have MacBook Air in their laps. Know the specs first and have review in every product, that’s the secret to get awesome notebook.

Acer’s Aspire S3 and MacBook Air:

When Acer made its Aspire S3, the computer company probably had in its mind that the smaller things get, the higher the possibility that they’d tend to bear similarities with other small things as well.

Let’s look at the features of the two and see whether there is basis in the arguments between Acer and Apple.

Air is 17mm at its thickest point, and S3, although claimed to be 13mm only, is actually 17 mm and even more if you take account its rubber stoppers. In terms of weight, both models are at 13″ but S3 weighs 1.35 kg and the air 1.3 kg in weight.

S3 is made of magnesium -aluminium alloy and has a lightly brushed texture finished while Air has been finished in smooth, matte aluminium.

S3 however has air vents similar to Apple but which Apple has successfully hidden under the screen hinge of MacBooks.

Perhaps it is unfortunate that S3 can run on batteries for 7 hours, as Air would not like that of course. The batteries of both netbooks are lithium polymer and are sealed into the devices.
A plus for Apple’s products would be their capacity for storage.

The S3 however, claims too to have a storage capacity o 240GB, and sells much cheaper than the Air with 256GB.

All Aspire S3 models have 4GB RAM but Apple in its Intel HD Graphics 3000 includes more memory than the S3.

S3 has a noticeably thicker screen and its 1377 x 768 pixels may not be actually able to compete with the MacBook Air which has superior display with an edge resolution of 1440 x 900 pixels.

S3 has few ports and connectors. On the right side, it has the SD card reader and on the left is the headphone jack and two more ports are the back, and the power socket and Full-size HMDI port.

It comes with an OSx10.7 “Lion” including the better than other competitors apps, the iPhoto, iMovie and Garageband. The S3 only comes with Windows 7.

Macs always have near-instant system resume with a 15 seconds reboot from a cold start. But Aspire 3 works beautifully as well with its resume, taking about 1.5 seconds to wake up from the sleep mode and about 2.5 seconds to fully reconnect to a usable state on Wi-Fi networks.

Given the detailed comparisons above, should Apple be really alarmed regarding the supposed similarities of the Air and S3?

Or can Apple still regain its’ position as the lead in the computer market? What do you think?

Have you ever known the smallest and thinnest notebooks these days? Well, you can name everything you know, but before you do that let me introduce to you these latest notebooks from ASUS that may add to your list.

Recently, ASUSTek Computer Inc., is very proud to announce the ultra-thinnest notebooks ever to be launched this year.

These are the newest ASUS U46 and ASUS U56. Apparently, these models feature an inch thick ultra-slim build with a hinge forward design, superb battery life, high-energy efficiency and a powerful performance.

Specifically, U46 and U56 are improved with an action-packed multitasking skills and faster data transfer rates, as these utilize 2nd generation standard voltage Intel Core processor, a Discrete NVIDIA GeForce GT 540M graphics with 1GB of GDDR3 video memory, and USB 3.0 ports with exclusive USB charger that will continue to charge even if the device is turned off.

Also, the battery life of these two notebooks is superb with up to 10 hours in continued use on a single charge. That’s pretty amazing energy savers.

Moreover, you can choose a 14″ screen with U46 models, whereas a 15″ screen with U56. Also, the other U56E model has soft-touch palm rests that makes it more deluxe.

However, there are no further details yet with regards to the specific price and release date of these units. For now, we are still waiting for more updates on these ultra-slim notebooks.

Perhaps, ASUS is just right in time catching our attention with these notebooks, but I am more interested with how these units can fair enough with other laptops we have in town.

Nowadays, consumers are getting demanding. Since the advent of technological devices like tablets, notebooks and laptops, the endless search for the most powerful and portable devices has become a wide competition for lots of manufacturers.

For this reason, we include Samsung as one of the leader in this business. While ordinary laptops normally measure 15.6″, the handy laptop of Samsung only measures 12.1″ of which the soundest alternative so far. It is a little bit more powerful than normal netbooks with its Intel Core i5-2410M processor, DDR3 memory with 4GB and a hard drive of 500GB.

This Samsung Series 3 12.1″ laptop also features an HD LED backlit display in 1080p, Bluetooth 3.0, WiFi, Gigabit Ethernet and 3 USB 2.0 ports. Its screen has 1366 x 768 pixels with HDMI. It also has a 4-in-1 multi memory card reader.

That is so cool. You no longer have to look for any adapters nor plug-ins. You can just instantly insert your card and you’re done.

Apparently, this 12.1″ laptop only weighs 3 pounds. This is very convenient to carry around with you at any time inside your bag. With its size, it will be ready for you to take it on the go. Add to that, you can always use it as a desktop replacement whenever you need one.

There’s no detail yet as of the price and the date of its release, but for sure Samsung fans are already restless in getting one of this laptop series. So, I guess we will have to wait for the updates of this laptop.

Currently, the tech world is having a competition for the smallest and thinnest notebooks. Various developers and manufacturers are merging to each other making a great deal in the business of producing those ultra-thin netbooks.

At this time, I will not make an exception to one of the world’s leader in making finest notebooks, the ASUS. This electronic manufacturer has made a history in launching the first ever netbooks way back in 2007. Four years after, they are coming back again in the limelight with their latest 13.3″ notebook nicknamed as U36.

Apparently, the Asus U36 is the thinnest notebook in the world. The Intel Core i5 CPU provides power for this machine and the Super Hybrid Engine is an added feature that is really a power saver. It is used to lower down the power consumption on the laptop.

Moreover, the U36 is also built-in with NVIDIA graphics. Its battery life is up to 11.5 hours. This is also supplied with a 500GB hard disk drive. Also, its screen display is composed of high definition TFT with a resolution of 1366x768p. When it comes to its web connectivity, it does have a connection of 802.11 b/g/n wireless card and has a 5-in-1 reader.

So, if you are looking for some of the newest gadgets with a simple design yet graces your identity as a businessman, then you can check this notebook at their site. It comes in either two colors, black or silver with a price of $1000. It will be shipped in the UK and eventually in the US.

Lenovo Thinkpad T420 Notebook.

Review:

Lenovo is known for its ThinkPad. Recently, it amazes us with its ThinkPad T-Series notebooks. So far this is the best among the latest series that Lenovo can show off. Physically, it displays a thin, light and snappy design that suits your ultimate business deals anywhere.

In fact, it performs as fast as lightning with its high-end processors and graphics. Specifically, it utilizes the Intel HD Integrated graphics and the NVIDIA Optimus technology that enable the user to boot the device faster and much easier. Moreover, it displays LED backlit which makes it a zero mercury screen.

Also, with its new HD LCD format and a display port video connector viewing is much enjoyable with clear and crisp images in 16:9 aspect ratio.

Aside from all of these specifications, I would like to highlight its energy saving features which really helps the cause of sectors who call out for a greener environment. Lenovo ThinkPad T420 is supported with Lenovo Battery Stretch, Green Power Scheme and Thinkpad Energy Saver.

Basically, these allow selections to extend battery life in extreme situations with greener power-saving standards and preserves mobile computing. Due to these, it gained the Energy Star rating and the EPEAT Gold qualification, which means that T420 has already met the standard green features.

This also have less power usage in Low 25-watt processor technology. It also comes with switchable graphics and SSDS hard drives that add reduction to power usage.

So, if you want to grab a Lenovo Thinkpad T420, it is already available at varying prices that starts from $500-$1200 with free shipping.

Do you know what it takes for a Mac to become a Mac? Well, for those who ran out of ideas, let me give you answers to that puzzle.

Mac has already been noted as the finest notebook ever. Apple has been working with its improvements since its official release. The very thing that makes the Mac, a Mac is the Operating System (OS) that runs through the system of this notebook. Specifically, for Mac notebooks, OS X was fully integrated with Mac’s software, in which it works perfectly because these pieces are made from the same company.

Today, after witnessing the oozing performance of OS X, it’s time to level up with OS X Lion. So far, it is the most advanced desktop OS ever developed with overwhelming 250 plus added new features. One amazing new feature is the AirDrop.

Accordingly, this feature will enable the user to send files without the aid of wires, set-up nor network required. It utilizes Peer-to-Peer Wi-fi between Mac computers and builds a firewall protection that prevent others from accessing the files which you have been transferred to another person.

On the other hand, you can also enjoy the other advanced features brought by OS X Lion. Resume, Mission Control and Auto Save are few that we are going to disclose here. First, with Resume you will no longer have to start again from the beginning of the process in turning on your Mac.

Second is the Mission Control where everything you have in your Mac will be summed up in just one screen like what you’ve seen in the latest Chromium Web browser. Another is the Auto Save, in which automatically saves your work without having to click the Ctrl+S.

Finally, as announced at the Apple site, OS X Lion will be coming soon this July at Mac App Store for $29.99.
