Demands for computer devices dictate that what are highly valued these days are those that are thin, portable and touch types. This market change emphasizes the possibility that the production of notebooks and laptops might just soon die out, especially with the notebooks, since the selling point of the said devices are actually their portability. Should these scare sole notebook producers? Considering that there are still some people out there who prefer the use of keyboards than touch pad then the emergence of touch type devices is not something that should scare them. Apple’s iPad tablets for example have certainly taken control over the market with other hardware companies trying to introduce other tablets so they can have a piece of the pie but some consumers do not really consider these devices as that appealing as they may have difficulty using them thus they prefer notebooks and netbooks. However, the coming out of sliders can actually be just the reason that might push out the demands for notebooks in the technology market.

The latest slider device from ASUS, which is the newest device in review, and other similar devices may eventually replace the notebook demands, simply because the advantage notebooks have over touch type tablets are their keyboards. The latest hardware review from HotHardware has given ASUS Eee Pad Slider a hot review and good mark, calling the device a very good radical innovation, just right with its touch technology and keyboard. Eee Sliders with their 1GB memory, 16GB/32GB storage, mixed software of Android 3.2, MyNet, Android Market, Polaris Office, Kindle Books, Zinio Magazine, Google Maps and Gmail, built in front and rear camera, microphone and stereo speakers, are certainly devices of great usability. Another plus factor is the idea that these sliders can run on batteries for 8 hours. They are just 273 x 180.3 x 17.3~18.3mm in dimensions. The price range however falls within $479 to $579. This may seem a little costly but with the functions that sliders offer their users, this price might just be small to pay.

Considering all these qualities then in sliders alone, how will the netbook technology fare in the next seasons? There might be no wonders why they might not be missed at all.

Who would have thought that a mere laptop can thrive into an ultimate gaming device. We know that laptops are not the usual device for hardcore gaming.

But with the oozing features of MSI‘s GE620DX, I think a hardcore gamer can’t miss this thing out.

In the earlier weeks, we are informed that MSI had launched the 17.3″ HD display and the SteelSeries multicolor backlit keyboard.

Amazingly, another information have told us that the same company have offered their new quad core gaming laptop. The report at tweaktown.com had given us details on the specs and features of this superb laptop.

Accordingly, GE620DX booms with the 2nd generation Intel quad core i7-2630QM processor which speeds up to 2.00GHz.

This is also supported with Intel’s Turbo Boost Technology 2.0. This technology enhances the entire performance of the laptop surpassing the core clock speed.

Moreover, its graphics is heavy with NVIDIA GeForce GT555M discrete graphics card with the support from NVIDIA’s PhysX technology and DirectX 11.

It also comes with a 2GB memory that can ultimately hold Quick Sync Video support that provides efficient ripping, synchronizing and even editing multimedia files.

Other features of GE620DX include the MSI GPU Boost Technology, which gives the multitasking quality, THX TruStudio Pro smart surround technology provides awesome sound surround and HDMI port with USB 3.0 ports that transfers in a speed of 4.8Gbps.

Add to that is the Cinema Pro technology that switches your screen into a film mode in an instant through a hotkey. With this technology, you will find that richer colors and higher resolution will be an obvious edge for your laptop.

Are you ready for the newest laptop from MSI?

Nowadays, consumers are getting demanding. Since the advent of technological devices like tablets, notebooks and laptops, the endless search for the most powerful and portable devices has become a wide competition for lots of manufacturers.

For this reason, we include Samsung as one of the leader in this business. While ordinary laptops normally measure 15.6″, the handy laptop of Samsung only measures 12.1″ of which the soundest alternative so far. It is a little bit more powerful than normal netbooks with its Intel Core i5-2410M processor, DDR3 memory with 4GB and a hard drive of 500GB.

This Samsung Series 3 12.1″ laptop also features an HD LED backlit display in 1080p, Bluetooth 3.0, WiFi, Gigabit Ethernet and 3 USB 2.0 ports. Its screen has 1366 x 768 pixels with HDMI. It also has a 4-in-1 multi memory card reader.

That is so cool. You no longer have to look for any adapters nor plug-ins. You can just instantly insert your card and you’re done.

Apparently, this 12.1″ laptop only weighs 3 pounds. This is very convenient to carry around with you at any time inside your bag. With its size, it will be ready for you to take it on the go. Add to that, you can always use it as a desktop replacement whenever you need one.

There’s no detail yet as of the price and the date of its release, but for sure Samsung fans are already restless in getting one of this laptop series. So, I guess we will have to wait for the updates of this laptop.

Currently, the tech world is having a competition for the smallest and thinnest notebooks. Various developers and manufacturers are merging to each other making a great deal in the business of producing those ultra-thin netbooks.

At this time, I will not make an exception to one of the world’s leader in making finest notebooks, the ASUS. This electronic manufacturer has made a history in launching the first ever netbooks way back in 2007. Four years after, they are coming back again in the limelight with their latest 13.3″ notebook nicknamed as U36.

Apparently, the Asus U36 is the thinnest notebook in the world. The Intel Core i5 CPU provides power for this machine and the Super Hybrid Engine is an added feature that is really a power saver. It is used to lower down the power consumption on the laptop.

Moreover, the U36 is also built-in with NVIDIA graphics. Its battery life is up to 11.5 hours. This is also supplied with a 500GB hard disk drive. Also, its screen display is composed of high definition TFT with a resolution of 1366x768p. When it comes to its web connectivity, it does have a connection of 802.11 b/g/n wireless card and has a 5-in-1 reader.

So, if you are looking for some of the newest gadgets with a simple design yet graces your identity as a businessman, then you can check this notebook at their site. It comes in either two colors, black or silver with a price of $1000. It will be shipped in the UK and eventually in the US.

Given a chance to choose between tablets and netbooks, which one will you choose? Well, honestly in terms of size, portability and functionality I would prefer to choose tablets over netbooks. This answer is practicality one of my guesses why there has been 40% decline in netbook sales.

Previously, we have seen how netbooks have driven the consumers’ interest in purchasing them. We can say that netbooks used to have a healthy market share until tablets came in. Although it was not directly noted that the release of tablets are to be blame for the netbook’s sales crash, the statement of Microsoft’s general manager, Bill Koefoed is implying that this has an impact to them.

Recently, at the announcement of Microsoft results, there has been clearly an 8% decline in consumer PC market sales for the first quarter and when Koefoed was asked for further explanations, he only noted that it was partially due to a decline in netbook sales.

While Microsoft’s general manager is vague for pointing its reasons, the Gartner Inc., a business analyst company gave reasons for the sales decline on netbooks.

Apparently, their forecasts for the slow in sales among PC computers for 2012 have shown that it was due to the rising popularity of tablets.

No wonder the Vice President for Research of Gartner Inc., David A. Willis is encouraging the developers to make media applications for tablets. He further explains that business venture for developing tablet apps is most likely the driving force for success as tablets are the most appealing gadget to business leaders today.

Previously, we have heard rumors about Google’s new releases of products. Speculations from what kind of device down to its specs and price have also been one of the subjects of discussion. Also many believed that Google would announce a new Chrome OS based-laptop. Reports suggested that the device would be manufactured by Samsung and it will be called the Chromebook.

On that expectation, we can now give you official information that all of the reports regarding the Chromebook were correct. According to an article of Sean Hollister at Engadget.com, Google has recently unveiled the new Samsung Series 5 Chromebook.

The device has an ultra-slim look and will be powered by a 1.66GHz dual-core Intel Atom N570 processor. It features a Li-ion battery that provides 8.5 hours battery life of continuous use. It has a Super Bright display in a 12.1-inch with a 1280 x 800 resolution. Moreover, it has a dual-band 802.11 Wi-Fi, a web-cam with 1-megapixel and a SDXC card reader with 16GB drive.

Add to that, the Samsung Series 5 Chromebook weighs in at 3.26 pounds. It comes with a global 3G, a multi-touch trackpad and a full size keyboard. It also includes USB 2.0 ports.

Enough with the specs, let’s talk about its price. Apparently, the Wi-Fi only model has been priced up at $429.99, while the Wi-Fi + 3G model will cost $499.99. Depending on what model you may choose, the difference is only $70.

Lastly, the Samsung Chromebook will be available in the U.S on June 15 at both Amazon.com and BestBuy.com.

Asus EEE PC 1215b.

With so many offers of advance and updated computers nowadays, the only thing that would disappoint you is the price that’s out of your budget and the time that you would wait before it will be delivered in your hands. But as of the moment, there is a good news for those who are looking for a quick computer purchase. And I’m talking about the Asus Eee PC 1215B.

This is a 12.1-inch laptop, powered by an AMD Fusion processor and starts at a base price of just $379. The laptop is just a tad pricier than your typical notebook, but has better graphics, higher resolution display, larger keyboard, and ships out with Windows 7 Home Premium.

For a $449 model, users will get a 1.6GHz AMD E-350 dual core processor and Radeon HD 6310 graphics. The base model is a 1GHz AMD C-50 dual core CPU and has Radeon HD 6250 graphics. The specs are very similar to the HP Pavilion dm1z, but the screen is a bit larger.

The resolution on the 12-inch screen is 1366 x 768 pixels. Amazon is selling the Eee PC 1215B-PU17 with the AMD E-350 processor for just under $440. Buy.com is selling the cheaper model for just under $380.

With the built-in AMD processor, this laptop will surely be sufficient for a college notebook. It’s small enough to type on a compact desk and weighs similar to your average college textbook.

Moreover, it has USB 2.0 Ports, 2-in-1 card reader and 56W/h battery which is up to eight and a half hours of battery life. Add to that, its global warranty is one year and a six months warranty for the battery.

The Panasonic Toughbook CF-19 is tough because it is one of the better ultra-rugged notebooks on the market. Shaped like a paving tile, the magnesium alloy case and rubber shock dampers have an appealing industrial chic. At 2.3kg it’s not particularly heavy given that it’s water-proof, shock-proof and dust-proof. The single-touch touchpad has rubberized buttons and is respectably responsive. Although the keys are solid to type on, the keyboard is weirdly proportioned and typos were frequent. However, the main method of input here is the stylus. It’s extremely precise, and by holding down a small ergonomic button it right-clicks rather than left-clicks.

The Toughbook can be used as a standard notebook, but the 10.4in resistive touchscreen can swivel around and lock in place to turn the CF-19 into a rugged tablet. Even on power-saver mode it was very bright. It also has a good color contrast and reproduction. The CF-19 is designed with portable use in mind, and on power-saver mode it lasted five hours and 43 minutes under regular office-style usage.

While not overly powerful, a low-voltage Intel Core i5-540UM and 4GB of RAM meant that the installed programs ran smoothly. The 160GB hard drive is on the small side, but it’s enough for most business users. There is an extensive array of ports with rubber covers for each one, including 2 x USB 2.0, one serial, one RJ-11 (soft)modem, one gigabit Ethernet, one IEEE 1394, a microphone and headphone jacks. The USB 2.0 ports are heavily recessed and will only fit slim USB devices. The hard drive and battery are both easily accessible beneath locked hatches.

With the exception of the odd keyboard and recessed USB 2.0 ports, the Panasonic Toughbook CF-19 is a proud example of how to take a good notebook and make it almost resistant to damage. It’s enormously expensive, but that’s the price you have to pay to get a portable computer that can’t readily be broken.

Sony’s recent developments of notebooks are known to be one of the most expensive in the town. It has grabbed AMD’s new portable-friendly APU. This new Sony netbook has gone to town with a design set to win our hearts and minds. If you don’t have any idea about this powerful notebook, then let me introduce you to Sony Vaio YB Series. This light-weight ultra-portable design weighs in between a netbook and a full-power notebook.

This portable notebook uses the AMD Processor E-350 with AMD Radeon HD 6310 Discrete-Class Graphics. The E-350 has a dual-core “Bobcat” design running at 1.6GHz and 1MB of L2 cache combined with the 80 graphics cores of the Radeon 6310 design running at 500MHz. The APU is tied to the system with a Hudson M1 chipset providing system IO. The Vaio YB also integrates an 11.3in LCD with a resolution of 1,366 x 768 that meets the pixel count requirements for 720p HD content.

The YB’s display also has an extremely high-gloss finish that gives the display an extremely clear and sharp aspect, only that you must avoid the direct reflection of sunlight. The system also includes a 500GB hard disk drive, 802.11bgn from Atheros and an “Assist” button on the top of the chassis, which loads help software or system recovery software as needed.

In addition, this notebook has up to six hours of battery life. Its system is more than capable of dealing with internet tasks and basic business tasks like email, word processing, spread sheeting, very basic picture editing, resizing and so on.

Truly, Sony Vaio is another slick design by Sony that will surely capture the market’s trend.
