The publicity material was leaked, appearing on Engadget and Digital Gadgets, and revealing many details of the specifications of the model that, in principle, will sell for an affordable $ 100, a bargain even in America, where a standard netbook goes for about $ 300.

According to the announcement, netbook can even play videos from YouTube! not the HD, but want a device that would be too much even so humble.

What can discourage is the operating system, Windows CE. This version of the system serves as the basis for mobile systems from Microsoft, but it in itself is unfriendly to the end user, not to mention the scarcity of programs presented.

It is possible that this netbook is the Sylvania 7-inch Netbook shown on the SylvaniaNetbooks.com website, including the touchpad design which is visible on the CVS box. If this is the same netbook is has better specs than the $119 kMart netbook from last Black Friday but is still a subpar netbook unless you are specifically looking for a netbook running Windows CE.

The ad shows a Windows CE logo, which means that the netbook won’t be running an operating system that your average consumer will be familiar with such as Windows XP or Windows 7 Starter which come on most current and even older netbooks. The advertisement posted on engadget is showcasing Windows CE logo, that clearly indicates the netbook won’t be running an operating system with that most of the people are familiar with such as Windows XP or Windows 7 Starter which come on most current and even older netbooks. As the netbook will use old operating system it won’t be able to install new programs.

The LookBook eBook reader is a risky offer by CVS. The eReader has a price above that of the Amazon Kindle. It tries to impress with a 7-inch colore screen, wireless, 512MB storage and full keyboard. It comes pre-loaded with 150 books. The ebook supplier is kobobooks. The LookBook is set to go on sale for September 19; the netbook has not been given a release date yet.

Acer Ferrari One Updating with AMD(Ontario) Processor : Asus may be preparing to launch its Lamborghini branded Eee PC VX6 soon, but Acer sort of beat Asus to the punch with a sports-car inspired ultraportable that’s been around for ages. But if you were worried that the Acer Ferrari One was starting to look a bit stale, don’t worry, because DigiTimes reports that Acer plans to launch a new version soon.

Digitimes reports that the Ontario processor will be part of the kit. Ontario is part of AMD’s upcoming Fusion line of combined CPU and GPU chips. If this happens then it will be a major PR coup for Acer as Fusion chips have not been announced for any products yet and it could be the first. Then again it could be seen as a massive gamble with a product that has untested demand.

Digitimes said that the Acer machine will have an 11.6-inch screen but that’s all it’s heard. It is possible that the Taiwanese IT industry rag might have got its wires crossed, or it could be that AMD might bring its Fusion line forward.

Word on the street has it that this notebook ought to hit the market before the year is over, but that might be rather difficult since AMD’s Ontario was slated for an early 2011 release.

Asus N53JN and N73JN(with Blu Ray and Sonic Sound Master) Hits UK : 6 months have passed since the new notebooks, the Asus N-series were first announced. Now there is finally some good news – at least for people who live in Britain. There, the new N53JN and N73JN are models available for the first time and are certainly of interest to some because of their excellent facilities and because of its elegant design.

As the name suggests, is at the Asus N53JN a 15.6 inch notebook, its price of 780 € to 1215 € last. For this the customer gets an Intel Core i5 processor, an Nvidia GeForce GT325M or 415m – which was also not even officially announced – both of which have the Nvidia Optimus technology. There are also a 320 gigabyte hard drive, a Blu Ray drive and USB 3.0 ports.

The larger N73JN Asus comes with a 17.3 inch screen and costs € 1350 and offers mostly the same equipment, apart from the two 320 gigabyte hard drives, which combine to 640 GB.

But the most important thing about these two systems is the new Sonic Master sound technology, developed with the help of Bang & Olufsen ICEpower. Asus even said explicitly that this is not a gimmick but a fully-fledged feature, and the audio specialists worked long time on its optimization. But nobody can say how good the new sound quality really is until you are one of these good pieces at home.

Toshiba Satellite T215D-S1140RD Notebook Review – Best Buy : Toshiba T215D-S1140RD Notebook PC, Weighing less than four pounds, and measuring just an inch thin, this easy traveler is a cinch to carry. Yet it offers an 11.6″ diagonal HD TruBrite® widescreen LED backlit display, well-sized for multitasking, work or play. Plus, it has the horsepower to handle the day’s tasks or evening’s entertainment, along with a great communications package to keep you effective and in touch. The AMD® Athlon II Neo K125 processor offers tremendous multimedia capabilities.

An update to last year’s T115, the Toshiba Satellite T215D-S1140RD performs like a slightly larger, faster Netbook with better specs and ports. It’s definitely a step up, but it may not be enough computer for those with higher expectations.

Packed into a plastic chassis reminiscent of most Netbooks but affording slightly more keyboard room and wrist-rest space, the single-core AMD Athlon II Neo T215D-S1140 is a slightly redesigned but otherwise similarly configured notebook to the T115.

Available in both red and a dark gray, the compact T215D-S1140RD bears a lot of similarities to the rest of Toshiba’s Netbook line, particularly the Mini NB305, and it’s identical looks-wise to its 2010 13-inch counterpart, the T235D-S1345, only smaller. The same feelings we had with the T235D hold true here: the design is glossy and a little bit garish on the inside, with a dark ruby-red patterned lid that hides fingerprints with varying degrees of success.

The glossy, LED-backlit 11.6-inch display on the T215D-S1140RD has a native resolution of 1,366×768 pixels. That’s standard for most laptops up to 15 inches, and it’s better than you’re likely to find in smaller Netbooks. The screen effectively feels less cramped as a result. Videos, pictures, and text all looked sharper than average for an 11-inch laptop, but we didn’t have the same pleasant experience with the T215D’s audio.

The included ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4225 graphics are close to Intel’s integrated graphics in terms of effective performance. Video definitely gets a boost, but any games that rely on 3D are hardly playable. Unreal Tournament III ran at 11.2 frames per second at 1,200×768 pixels. Full-screen streaming HD video played, albeit at chopped frame rates. Lower-res full-screen streaming video ran decently, enough to be livable, and far better than on a Netbook.
Toshiba AC100(SmartBook) Android Netbook to Launch in IFA 2010 Berlin : Toshiba is putting the finishing touches to the UK launch of the Toshiba AC100 netbook. Toshiba UK made the announcement via its Twitter link.

The Toshiba AC100 is an ultra-thin mobile computing device that runs the Android operating system with an NVIDIA Tegra T20 chipset, 10 inch display. The smartbook has a 1024 x 600 pixel display, 512MB of memory, and a 16GB solid state disk. Darty is charging €299, or about $380 US.

The AC100 weighs just 899g and is just 14mm thick. It has a 10.1 inch TruBrite display with graphics courtesy of an nVidia Tegra 250 processor. As befits a mobile device, the AC100 comes with 3G networking built in as well as WiFi so you can be up and surfing anywhere.

The reviews haven’t been as stellar so far–per Engadget, Russian site Hi-tech.mail.ru wasn’t impressed by the smartbook’s battery life and browser.

The standout feature of the AC100 is the battery life, however. Toshiba are claiming an amazing 180 hours of standby time and 8 hours of constant use making this a real contender if you need to take a lightweight web device on holiday or for long business trips.

Netbook News reports that an Android 2.2 upgrade should be available down the road. That could enable support for Adobe Flash.

Intel Atom N550 Dual Core Announced for Netbooks : Since the netbook market has kept growing at a rapid rate, Intel decided to provide system makers with the Atom N550 dual-core chips, and the CPU maker has now proudly announced that a host of PC suppliers have and will provide, through the end of the year, mobile PCs based on it.

Intel Atom N550 is clocked at 1.5GHz, this system on a chip has a 8.5W max TDP, is 64-bit capable, and adds support for up to 2GB of DDR3 RAM. Like previous Atoms, hyper-threading is supported, and the CPU is manufactured on a 45nm process.

“In their short history, the netbook category has experienced impressive growth,” said Erik Reid, director of marketing for mobile platforms at Intel. “Having shipped about 70 million Intel Atom chips for netbooks since our launch of the category in 2008, there is obviously a great market for these devices around the world.”

Intel’s press info also touts models from Acer, Asus, Fujitsu, Lenovo, LG, Samsung, MSI, Toshiba and the other usual suspects as going on sale now, while also adding that the company has sold 70 million Atom chips since the launch in 2008.
