Have you ever tried to watch or played a game in 3D? If so, how do you feel about it?

Recently, there has been a group of researchers from University of California-Berkeley, studying the comparable effects of viewing 3Ds at home and in cinemas.

Apparently, the result shows that watching movies at home causes more eye strains than watching in cinemas. The group explains that there are issues of fatigues when watching certain 3D displays.

The group found out that there are more eye strain, fatigue and less vision in 3D images based from changes in depth of the screen and depth of the image itself. Also, the distance in viewing 3D images also affects the eye.

Specifically, based from those participants who took part in the test confessed that they would feel more fatigued and found that they suffered more eye strain when they watch a 3D movie from a distance.

So, watching 3D movies in cinema are found uncomfortable. However, there are claims from those who are comfortable watching movies in cinema said that when they tried to watch 3D contents at home they feel uncomfortable. This conflicting claims, suggests that there is still a need to go further in this study.

After all, the result of this researcher is very useful in the future production of 3D technology displays of which will give a lot of advantage to some electronic company whose business relies heavily on it.

So, at what type of 3D viewing are you comfortable?

For many decades, we have seen how technology had filled our homes with entertainment and convenience. Before, we are used to be entertained by theater plays, later we find convenience in watching those plays at home in TV. For that, we can say that televisions have become the most prevalent home appliance in every household.

Due to its popularity, it became an in demand product in the market. Before iPads, tablets, or smartphones came into existence televisions were already marketable. Since many manufacturers have seen the appeal of TVs to the consumers, they have done various updates and changes to this product.

The changes to the look and feel of televisions are becoming greater and greater as we have seen it today.

In connection to this, we will feature one TV of Toshiba. This is called Toshiba 46Sl417 HDTV. Apparently, this is a flat-screen display that has an ultra-thin bezel measuring only an inch. At the back of the display are the HDMI inputs, dual USB inputs, PC input, an antenna, Ethernet port and audio outputs. However, we have seen that video inputs are absent in this TV.

Moreover, its LED LCD display responses at 8ms with 120Hz refresh rate and an HD resolution of 1080p.

This also has an access to Internet video and audio sources that is DLNA certified. It means that it can access the content of local network which include Netflix, Pandora, YouTube, CinemaNow, Blockbuster Video on Demand, VuduHD and Yahoo Widget gallery.

But there are also disappointing points for Toshiba 46SL417U. Those are the poor sound quality, sluggish interface and slow loading content for media player.

Sharp Electronics Corporation is on top among the most energy efficient product designs. Just this year, after receiving the 2010 Energy Star Award (Excellence in Energy Efficient Product Design) on April 12, Sharp is eager and now ready to enter the tough competition in the market with their unique and one of the kind electronic products and solutions. One of their front liner is PN-V601.

As posted on their company site, Sharp claimed PN-V601 as the World’s slimmest bezel with its 60-inch Class diagonal screen size with 6.5 mm multi-screen displays that is convertible as digital signage solution. Moreover, PN-V601 has a general resolution of 1366 x 768, but when used in a 3×3 video wall display, this provides over 4000 x 2000 total resolutions for ultra-high resolution and ultra-high impact images.

Add to that is the ASV LCD technology that enables the viewer to view deep and bright pure colors with brightness that is up to 700cd/m2 and contrast ratio of 2400:1 in portrait or landscape operation. PN-V601 is also stepping outside the conventional CCFL backlighting with its full array LED backlight. The positioning of the LED gives the effect of uniform brightness. The LED elements are positioned across the entire panel directly behind the liquid crystal layers so that uniform brightness is achieved.

This LCD monitor is compatible with SDSS or Sharp Digital Signage Software. Also, it passed the ENERGY STAR qualification in energy efficiency. Amazingly, it consumes only 1.8W in standard standby mode, while in standby low power mode it only consumes 0.5W. Its general energy consumption is 480W with power source of 100-240V AC, 50/60 Hz.

Lastly, PN-V601 is perfect for unlimited video wall commercial applications with 3-year on-site warranty for only $13,695.00(MSRP).

The multinational Dutch electronics company known as Philips is one of the largest and most popular electronics company in the world which employs a thousand of employees in more than sixty countries in 2010. Basically, Philips has started the business with simple carbon-filament lamps, but now it has grown into a fully established company that is dedicated to produce innovative electronic products through their insightful engineers.

However, for an unknown reason Philips has scaled down in innovating consumer electronics last year. It can only be noted that its latest release on major consumer electronics product is the Philips Cinema, an LCD display TV last 2009. The companies also have formerly produced televisions which are in 3D.

But surprisingly, four former engineers at Philips who are previously the proponents of the discontinued 3D TVs have founded a company called Dimenco. The founders of Dimenco claimed that they will become the leading 3D technology in the world, as they were been working together in the same passion for 3D technology. Since Philips discontinued the 3D venture, they are now using their expertise on functionality, industry and geographical reach on 3Ds.

This claim is made evident on their recent announcement of the 52″ Lenticular TV. This glasses-free TV is said to be commercialized by 2013. Apparently, this lenticular TV LCD is flowing as it produces illusion of depth. It also will immediately grab our attention with its out-of-screen 3D effects, which makes it more exciting.
Not to mention the price, I just wonder if ever we could get any discounts for these lenticular displays sometime soon.

Panasonic has been one of the top leading companies for consumer electronics. Its name became the most sought after brand around the globe due to its commitment to bring in the “ideas for life” to every consumer. And for that commitment, they are at constant height for releasing new electronic products this year.

Recently, Panasonic has announced two new 3D Blu-ray disc players coming to UK stores. Both Blu-ray players have Freeview + HD built-in and will be optimized for next-generation home entertainment. The two models, named DMR-BWT800 and DMR-BWT700 each carry twin tuners on board, as well as full 5.1-channel surround sound with the option of displaying 3D content.

The devices are Viera Cast enabled and users will be able to connect through an SD slot, and able to plug in their AVCHD content directly into the players. The devices both have DLNA server functionality and offer WiFi, allowing consumers to connect to Panasonic’s Viera Cast through the machine.

The two Blu-ray disc players even offer a high-speed copying function, allowing users to record unprotected hard-drive content on a Blu-ray drive without having to wait a long time. We don’t yet have information on pricing or availability just yet, but the recorders are expected to hit UK shelves soon and the US likely to follow in the coming months.

See the video below to see Panasonic’s full lineup for this year.

Despite the growing number of LED back-lit LCDs for sale, traditional CCFL screens still have a slight price edge. Still, the gap is closing, with the latest ViewSonic VX2450wm screen. This screen is a 24in panel with an LED back-light. It features a full HD 1,920 x 1,080 resolution, a 20 million to one dynamic (1000:1 typical) contrast ratio and a 5ms response time.

The matte screen means the colors are a little dull compared to glossy models, though still quite good. We had no problem with reflections even in very bright work environments with uncovered windows. Also, ViewSonic provides an excellent picture with deep blacks and no real light bleed. The viewing angles sometimes seemed a little off but were more than adequate for normal use.

The ViewSonic certainly looks the part, with smooth glossy black curves and stylish translucent surrounds. Despite the thin nature of the LED screen, the VX24 incorporates the PSU inside making it as thick as a CCFL LCD. While the screen does have a VESA mount, the extra thickness makes it less suitable for wall mounting.

However, it is somewhat old school with its connectivity options. There is no fancy HDMI or DisplayPort. It only has the basic VGA and DVI connections that keep its cost down, though it’s a bit of a pain if you want to use it with newer video cards or your console. The VX24 does include dual 2W speakers, though we can’t recommend them except in the most desperate of circumstances. The OSD is accessed through now standard touch controls and is quite responsive. You get the usual array of adjustments and those who like to tweak settings won’t be short of options.

ViewSonic is available on online shops for under $250.

The Samsung UN55D8000 is one of Samsung‘s highest quality smart TVs. This television supports 3D content when paired with a 3D Blu-ray player that was built in with PlayStation 3. The screen has a 240Hz refresh rate, making it twice as snappy as what is normally needed to pull off 3D video. The television also supports full 1080p content and works as well for normal television as it does for higher end video like Blu-ray or 3D video.

The screen is large. It has 55 inches screen that is perfect for individuals who are looking for an engulfing experience. This size of a screen would be perfect for a moderately sized living room. The television operates on an LED backlight for better image quality and lower power consumption.

It features four HDMI 1.4 inputs including a component, composite, and a PC input. The unit also carries three USB 2.0 ports and is equipped with both audio and PC input. Users will also enjoy a built in WiFi system for connecting online to enjoy smart TV apps and web surfing. This means that Netflix, Hulu, and Youtube will be enjoyed right in front of a wide television screen.

Add to that, the users will get their brand new smart TV shipped with a Samsung Smart TV QWERTY remote control. And as to the aspect ratio, this new Samsung smart TV sports a 16:9, 25 million to 1 dynamic contrast ration and has 15 watts of integrated sound. Although the price for a brand new is quite expensive at $3,500, you can practically hitch for a used one for around $2,000.

The Samsung Smart TV is making its way again to the top. As we all know, Samsung, the maker of this consumer electronics from Korea is always pushing the boundaries and now they try to come up with the next big thing. And this “next big thing” is the so called Smart TV, described as an oversized iPhone. But this oversized iPhone is not created only for an individual to enjoy. Nonetheless, the thrust of Samsung for creating this product is for the home to enjoy and experience its modern way of serving an entertainment.

As an overview, the Samsung Smart TV works like an iPhone as you cannot only look for Samsung apps, but also search for TV shows, movies and surf the net. So far, it has around 300 apps available. Also, you gain access to media rich content from the likes of Netflix or Blockbuster, Hulu Plus, and you can get much closer to all the latest sports action via ESPN. Add to that, for those of you who use or have used Netscape 5.0, then you will be familiar with the web browser on Smart TV. You will also be pleased to know that you can view Flash to give you that full web browsing experience.

Another feature that excites us the most is how you can be watching a TV show. Although this feature is not announced to be one of the basic features, some have claimed that it would be great to add to Smart TVs collection.

The Samsung Smart TV is yet new in the line, but we can hope that this will do well in the next few years.

Toshiba refreshes its range of HD TVs with the new family of REGZA LCD TV range RB2 who bring with them the special nature of integrated Blu Ray. On the one hand it is possible to enter – and, of course, on the contrary, withdraw – the disc with high-definition content. A modern reinterpretation of the famous TV Combo who have never really done a bang because of the all-in-one that does not excel in either one or the other aspect. After the jump, prices.

The most common criticism about solutions combo is “If it breaks then the player or the TV, you must repair the entire block, the better the two separate devices. ” Which is also acceptable, but for certain target the combo can be a more practical solution.

Toshiba is not a newcomer in the field of TV and if he decided to pack offer TV with integrated Blu Ray, then most likely there is still a considerable demand for this market a bit ‘niche. Here REGZA RB2.

The RB2 Series Toshiba REGZA LCD panel support and integrate a Blu Ray. They will be available in three different cuts of 30-inch diagonal with 40RB2 to $ 2,055, 32-inch 32RB2 to $ 1390 and 26-inch 26RB2 to $ 1269. The thickness, in spite of the embedded player, remains very low, at 49 mm.
