Heineken’s Beer Robot!

Ever since the beginning of civilizations, beer drinking has been part of social activities and gatherings. Beer is one of the most popular beverages in the world that is widely consumed by people from different walks of life. We can rarely see the presence of this alcoholic drink in the party-oriented society that we have today. No wonder, there are people who really are gaining millions out of producing and serving this drink to many consumers.
Probably due to the beer’s popularity, the Autonomous Systems Lab in the Department of Product Design and Engineering at Middlesex University developed a robot which serves beer to customers. This autonomous microprocessor controlled mobile system is called as Heineken Beer Robot. It already appeared at the Kinetica Art Fair London in February 2010,
Accordingly, this Beer Robot can run on flat and clear surfaces with a minimum of 1m x .5 m dimensions. This has infrared sensors that keep it from falling, bumping and pouring the exact amount of beer into the customer’s glass.
This Beer Robot is also composed of live edge Acrylic, Aluminum, Steel, and Rubber materials with a specific dimension of 40 cm x 30 cm x 30 cm. Its main components are pic based microprocessor, 12 V x 2 dc motors with encoders, a servo Motor, 3 infrared sensors and one ultrasonic sensor. Moreover, it can be powered by 12 V dc Li-Po Rechargeable battery and Replaceable 6 V dc AA batteries.
Currently, Heineken Beer Robot’s retail price is £2,195.00.
