Previously, we spoke about all of those BlackBerry OS 6.1 features and we hear so much speculations about it. However, it turns out that RIM thought that it outgrew its name and has instead called it BlackBerry 7.
A press release which was posted online has given us some new info about BlackBerry 7; apparently you should expect a faster and easier user experience, voice-activated searches, improved web browsing, more pre-installed apps and the ability to manage personal and corporate content separately.
Nevertheless, we have to be most excited about the web browsing improvements as this is something which hasn’t been great from its earlier OS. The BlackBerry Browser in BlackBerry 7 features a new JavaScript compiler, support for more HTML5 elements and general performance gains. It also feature touchscreens like the new Bold 9900 and 9930, which browsers will be tweaked to suit the OS.
BlackBerry Balance is the software which keeps personal content and corporate content separate, this is great as it will allow people to use their BlackBerry for games and apps while allowing companies to securely manage the business side. We can also confirm that all BlackBerrys will come with the full versions of Docs To Go installed with all the premium features enabled out-of-the-box, this will allow people to work with Word, Excel and PowerPoint documents and also view PDF files.
We will hopefully get to see some hands on videos showing BlackBerry 7 OS in action, when we do we will be sure to post them. Finally what do YOU want to see different in the OS? Let us know with a comment below.
