“Earth is burning. Striking from beyond known space, a race of terrifying machines has begun their destruction of the human race. As Commander Shepard, an Alliance Marine, your only hope for saving mankind is to rally the civilizations of the galaxy and launch one final mission to take back the Earth.”
This has been a teaser for the upcoming 3rd sequel of the most popular role-playing video games, the Mass Effect.
Mass Effect 3 is currently in development. A summary of an upcoming Game Informer article by IGN reveals that the story will revolve around saving Earth from the Reapers by rallying civilizations of the galaxy together. This has been being developed by BioWare and published by Electronic Arts for Microsoft Windows, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
According to a recent article by Robert Purchase over on the eurogamer.net website, the developer BioWare has apparently revealed that although there won’t be any multiplayer modes in the Mass Effect 3 game, they will consider it for any future games and spin-offs.
The role-playing elements of the Mass Effect series are being expanded for the Mass Effect 3 title. Not only will powers are able to evolve several times, but skill trees will also be larger than before. Weapon mods will also be making a return in the third installment.
These are only few glimpse of the ME3 “the making”, it’s obvious that the ending to it will bring a climactic close to the journey of Commander Shepard, while simultaneously drawing back the curtain on a new world of story possibilities. Who knows if it will sprout to Mass Effect 4?
