Have you ever seen an all-in-one machine that comes different than the usual? If not, then try this new Genesis s815 from Lexmark. This all around machine is distinguished with two features. First is the almost vertical style of the scan bed and second is the less noticeable use of a camera-style sensor.
Practically it has the advantages of instant previews, very rapid scans in less than 4 seconds, silent operation, a reduced footprint, and the effective elimination of distortion when scanning books. Moreover, the Genesis s815 supports a range of SmartSolutions – mini applications that run in the printer. They include displaying and/or printing tweets, Facebook activity, RSS feeds, and photos from services such as Picasa and MobileMe. Also, it’s set up makes a snap with Wi-fi protected set up interface. It also does not require an initial USB connection.
Furthermore, its other features include printing directly from PictBridge devices, has the option of printing a proof sheet, marking a selection, then scanning it to print a batch of images. Its print on plain paper gives above-average results, though we are unsatisfied with Lexmark’s photo paper. As for the printing speed, it showed an out time of 30 seconds, with a run-on speed of almost 4ppm. And a 10 x 15 cm photo emerged after 44 seconds.
In general, the Genesis matched or exceeded the quality of other inkjets all-in-one. However, this is relatively expensive than most of the all-in-one scanner/printer machines. But the money you will spend on this machine is already an investment.
