Will handheld gaming like 3DS, iPhone and the iPad be the future of gaming?

Recently, Nintendo has launched its 3DS mobile gaming console that reached success with the claimed pre-orders and fore-casted 4 million units through March31. However, this success still it admits that Apple is dominating the gaming market.
Game developer, Olly Farshi said,” iOS is a platform, and the 3DS is a toy.” This means that Nintendo will always have its place in every case for there are some users who purely look for a toy and not a platform.
The iPhone and iPad touch although affordable and has more exciting features than 3Ds are fragile devices that a parent for example may be reluctant to have it for his child. But Apple is better at reaching non-traditional gamers than Nintendo who claimed that their new console and promises on apps are purely for gaming.
In other words, Nintendo has not deemed the Apple’s iOs devices as competitors. For that, we can accept that these two (iOs and 3Ds) will be able to coexist.
