Google’s Another Attempt For Social Media, Fails

Social networks are undeniably “in” today. With the popularity of social websites such as the Facebook and Twitter, we can say that social media are definitely most active. And so, with this account, Google recently introduced its +1 button.

This +1 button is a new social feature that integrates into Google Search. It looks the same with the like button of Facebook, but claimed to be different. Accordingly, this button is beyond any other buttons can do. This can heavily influence the search results by just clicking and the online advertising is its probable deal.

Now, we already have witnessed other attempts of Google to go social. What makes this +1 button different is that it was focused on mainly on Google Search. This works seemingly like the Facebook button does, but the results are posted on the Google search of where it can stand out from other query.

To explain further, if a user clicks +1 a certain article on the Google search query, and a friend enters a query about a certain topic that is related to what the user had previously +1, then it will stand out on Google search.

However, Google’s +1 button has real problems. First is that, Google Search is a one way search query and not social experience. It would be too impractical to return to a previous page just to click the +1 an article. Aside from that, the benefit of clicking +1 on Google has lesser benefit than Facebook and Twitter. So, I think this +1 button of Google must remain as an experiment until they can find solution to the issues laid before them.
