Verizon Wireless has launched a new sale for their DROID offerings while it makes most of the devices absolutely free, others are also available at extremely affordable prices. That is, offering a $100 discount from any DROID-branded smartphone for online buyers, while there will be another $100 discount off the subsidized, two-year contract price to boot.
This is in part due to the original Motorola DROID which, as the time, was pretty much the most advanced phone on the market capable of competing with Apple’s iPhone. Smartphones including DROID 2, DROID R2D2, DROID Incredible, DROID and DROID X come for free while the DROID 2 Global is priced at $99.99, the DROID Pro is priced at $79.99 and the DROID X is priced at $49.99.
Of course with the new Droid Bionic and HTC Thunderbolt on the way you wouldn’t figure too many people would be willing to jump in to an older device. However, it may be a nice option for parents looking to purchase their kids a smart phone, or new users to join the Android experience.
