After announcing that Guitar Hero and DJ Hero were officially discontinued, it looks like they’re not done with the Hero franchise. Kotaku claims to have word from an unspecified source that Activision is currently working on Dance Hero which, as the name clearly suggests, would ditch the traditional rhythm action format of previous entries in favour of motion-controlled dancing.
Activision is said to have applied for a trademark for a game called Dance Hero back in 2008, and the site says it has learned that work on the title is now underway. The company’s apparently thinking of using tracks for the game including ’2012′ by Jay Sean, ‘Out Of Space’ by The Prodigy, ‘The Way I Are’ by Timbaland and ‘Take Over Control’ by Afrojack.
No details of the game have been revealed except 4 song titles that will be found on it. Expect it to arrive on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Wii since all 3 consoles are now capable of motion control based gaming. And earlier this month developer Harmonix confirmed that Dance Central has proved more lucrative for the company than Rock Band 3.
