Microsoft has released SP1 for Windows 7 and Win Server 2008 R2, with a single download the SP pack will bring you number of updates with exciting features. The Service Pack 1 is now available for download through Microsoft Download Centre.
For 32 bit the file size is 537 MB whereas 903 MB for 64-bit users the update includes number of bug fixes and security features. Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 helps keep your PCs and servers on the latest support level. It also provides ongoing improvements to the Windows Operating System (OS), by including previous updates delivered over Windows Update as well as continuing incremental updates to the Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 platforms based on customer and partner feedback.
Getting SP1 RTM from the Microsoft Download Center and installing it requires at least 4100 MB of free disk space for the x86-based (32-bit) version of the service pack, and as much as 7400 MB for the x64-based (64-bit) flavor.
The update includes RemoteFX, that will improve your computing experience if you’re using Windows 7 via Remote desktop. SP1 also includes improved HDMI connection reliability, better XPS printing, and improved Explorer window management.
In order to download and install Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 you must currently have a Release to Manufacturing (RTM) version of Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2 already installed. If you have previously installed a pre-release version of Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 on your machine, you must uninstall that version before installing SP1.
