The new Volkswagen Amarok collection will make its long awaited debut in the UK this week in 2011 Outdoor Show at the ExCel Exhibition Centre in Docklands, London, 13-16 January. Specializing in all aspects of outdoor activities and experiences, outdoor presentation is in its tenth year, and 2011 marks the event’s first visit to the capital. More than 125,000 visitors are expected to pass through the gates over the next four days.
The Amarok has a cargo area of 2.52 square meters and a width between wheel arches of 1222mm, and all versions are equipped as standard with a locking differential, ESP, Hill Hold Assist, hill descent control and a system ABS able to operate outside the road sense. Although not go on sale in the UK until spring, Amarok has been tested by Euro NCAP crash, which gave him four stars and declared that he had better protection for pedestrians from a truck that had investigated.
Along with Amarok, and also making his debut in the UK before the release later this year will be the limited edition of Berghaus California. Created in collaboration with specialists in street clothes, the Berghaus California will be available with a 2.0-liter 180 PS engine BiTDI and equipment includes a bike rack, awning, Berghaus brand carpet mats and waterproof seat covers, and exclusive bi-color 18-inch wheels ‘Dakar’ alloy. After the show, the Amarok then embark on a nationwide tour, giving customers the opportunity to see and experience the vehicle in a series of static screens Volkswagen Van Centres throughout the UK, before the first vehicle unit right through to spring.
The combination of a strong pick-up with innovative technology, high safety, excellent fuel economy and Volkswagen standards of comfort, quality and durability, the new four-door double cab pick-up was recently honored with the first International Award collection. The Amarok has the largest load size in its class with a cargo area of 2.52 m² (1,555 mm long, 1,620 mm wide, with a width between wheel arches of 1,222 mm). All models feature advanced technology and security systems, including EDS (Electronic Differential Lock), ASR (Anti-Slip Regulation), ESP (Electronic Stabilization Program) with Hill Hold Assist, Hill Descent Control and ABS SUV designed to shorten stopping distances on loose surfaces greatly.
After the Amarok Outdoor Show will take part in a series of static screens Volkswagen Van Centres throughout the UK, before the first right hand drive vehicles for sale in the spring. UK prices and specifications of both models have not yet been announced.
