Facebook is taking a bit of a volatile week – the site is unavailable for many, and working very, very slowly for others. E-mail messages suggest that Reg has had problems for at least three hours.
It is unclear whether there is a security problem or something went wrong with a growing infrastructure of the site. We have tried to access our Facebook page and OSM have been unsuccessful. If it’s down for the day, then it seems it will not be able to implement its social marketing techniques of the media, that is, unless you can do in the iPhone application. We’re not sure about other operating system applications, but can confirm that Facebook is still running through the four Apple iPhone application.
Facebook has been saying that it is strengthening its security procedures. Anyone who log on to the site in recent weeks have seen a message asking for additional email addresses and phone numbers – apparently for security reasons, not in a blatant attempt to get their hands on what remains of their private data.
What happens for several members of the OSM is when looking for a page, does not seem to load. You have to wonder what can be done? However, if this is the unexpected downtime as Skype was in late December, then Facebook will have to say something quickly or face the wrath of its 250 million daily users of the frustration of not being able to access your page. What do you think happened? The unexpected downtime or actually do something with this site? We are confident that all will be revealed.
