During the Consumer Electronics Show 2011 in Las Vegas, Dell officially announced the handset running Google Android 2.2 Place Froyo. Place boasts a touch screen 4.1-inch AMOLED Gorilla glass and parcel of a 1GHz Qualcomm. Like other handset makers, Dell has not announced pricing and availability of the phone. Please note that this phone is sold unlocked directly from Dell.
Place Dell 4.1-inch WVGA (800×480) AMOLED capacitive screen technology backed by Gorilla glass offers color graphics 24-bit. Qualcomm Snapdragon home QSD 8250 1GHz processor with 512 MB of RAM and 1 GB ROM. Place runs the Google Android 2.2 Froyo Dell Stage layers of the same user interface. Stage comes with user interface widgets designed to help organize music, videos and photos. With 1 GB of storage offered on board, you can always add up to 32 GB microSD card to it.
Place offers 8-megapixel camera with LED flash, autofocus, 4x digital zoom, and geo-tagging. The rearview camera that can record 720p HD video with 8-megapixel camera, but no HD 1080p, as the Scorpion 1GHz core does not. Other features include Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR, Wi-Fi, ActiveSync, compatible with Microsoft Exchange, the Web browser that supports HTML 2.0 Mobile, microUSB port and an audio port of 3.5 mm. It is unclear whether this phone offers stereo FM Radio. 1400mAh battery packaging, we can expect a decent battery life of the Android device.
Dell has not announced pricing and availability of the venue, but we believe it will be available in the first quarter of 2011 in the U.S. at least.
