The 8th edition of the Spike TV Video Game Awards follows, scheduled to air live on Spike TV on Saturday evening, December 11, 2010, from the Los Angeles Convention Center featuring a bevy of stars from the world of video games, Hollywood and pop music.
Beginning in 2003, the Spike TV Video Game Awards garnered much attention, since video game awards were not common prior to its introduction. The big award of the night is of course for Game of the Year Here are the nominees: Call of Duty: Black Ops, God of War III, Halo: Reach, Mass Effect 2, Red Dead Redemption …
Spike TV promises a big spectacle tonight, held live at the L.A. Convention Center. They even got veteran awards show host Neil Patrick Harris to run things this year. However, the show is still in the shadow of the Interactive Achievement Awards, which is airing on IFC in a few months. But the show isn’t just about honoring the best games from this past year. The hype will also start building for next year’s best sellers, as 13 upcoming titles will be revealed during the show. There is even an award for Most Anticipated Game to cap it all off.
On awards night, video game fans are treated to first looks at new games by major game makers, and 2010 is no exception. This year, watch for world premieres of “Batman: Arkham City” as well as the newest entry in to the market from BioWare (producers of Mass Effect, Dragon Age), and other sneak peaks into what’s coming down the pike in 2011.
