McLaren’s name will return to GT racing sports car from 2012, when teams Woking-based firm with CRS Racing to provide and support a number of GT3 race cars for privateers based in Europe, based on the McLaren MP4-12C. McLaren has joined forces with CRS Racing for making this dream scenario a reality, hoping that their creation will continue to reflect the success of the legendary F1 GTR that won the 24 Hours of Le Mans 15 years ago.
Basically, that means fantastic news from 2012 we shall have to see the McLaren MP4-12C against other supercars pumped as the GT3 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG, Porsche 911 GT3, a tantalizing prospect, we ‘re that you’ll agree.
From 2012, McLaren will produce the GT3 McLaren MP4-12C with the help of the genius of the British Racing Stable CRS. Together for a limited production, McLaren Racing and the supply and support a small number of teams based in Europe private SRF. As part of vehicle development, prototypes of the GT3 will compete in several races selected European GT next year.
Team boss Martin Whitmarsh said it was inevitable that having got back into the design of road cars along with its program of Formula 1, McLaren would eventually build a racing version of the 12C too. “The race is in our blood – it was natural to develop a car alongside the GT3 road car 12C,” he said. “We have a legendary history of motor sport worldwide, including GT racing, and we aim to maintain that reputation with this program GT3, and all future sports car that can evolve. ”
Andrew Kirkaldy, Team Principal, SRF Racing, added: “One of the most important aspects of this program will be customer service and for this reason that we will build a limited number of cars at a competitive price. The result will be a GT car incredible manage operating costs and good residual value that will allow the owner an unparalleled experience. ”
