Amazon has announced that its third-generation Kindle e-reader now is the best selling product worldwide about their eCommerce portal. And no, not just the best-selling product this year, but best-selling product ever. It has also given the team reason to Amazon Coo as she successfully avert the threat of tablet devices.
The Amazon Kindle 3 has now overtaken Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows book release and the retailers best selling product ever. A major contribution to this massive spike sales is how aggressively the Kindle is currently priced at 3, available at a price as low as £ 109 here in the UK. Although we now know it’s Amazon’s best selling product ever, we still have no hard sales figures, but analysts consensus, the number of Kindles sold 8 million in all models, just before Christmas, so it would have jumped considerably since.
The milestone comes just five months after the launch of the new generation device. Amazon currently offers two versions of their new Kindle – a Wi-Fi-only version at $ 139 and another 3G device at a price of $ 189. Not too surprisingly, a large chunk of sales seems to have come during the holidays.
Amazon has shown that the company sold no less than 13.7 million items in all product categories in 29 November – a massive 158 items sold per second. Amazon is expected to be sold 8 million units of the Kindle by the end of this year.
According to Amazon, Christmas Day was the peak, where more people are enabled new Kindle e-readers, and many more digital books purchased in the Kindle Store than on any other day in the history of Amazon. Kindle (with WiFi Internet access) and the Kindle (3G and WiFi Internet access) devices were the best selling products on Amazon this holiday season, the company added.
Despite the success of Kindles, Amazon was still 15% of the market and short eReader does not look like figures in future will be more encouraging. A survey by ChangeWave of more than 2,800 consumers shows that the percentage of the IPAD users “very satisfied” with the tablet computer was higher than that of the Kindle.
