The HTC EVO Shift 4G was recently spotted at the FCC and now we have a purported shot of the handset that exposes its landscape keyboard. Factor in the noticeable lack of front-facing camera, silver trackpad and those throwback flat keys, and we’re even willing to forgive those hastily penciled watermarks on the keyboard and on top of the clearly ‘shopped screen. Even if this shot is legit, we haven’t seen the full device yet — it sure looks like this Knight is wearing a suit of plastic armor around the edges. Previous rumors hinted that the EVO Shift 4G would launch without a front-facing camera and this photo seems to confirm this rumor.
Previously known as the HTC Knight and the HTC Speedy, the EVO Shift 4G will feature WiMAX connectivity and is thought to be a smaller version of the HTC Evo 4G. It may also be the HTC A7373, a handset recently spotted in a Sprint database with a January 9th launch date, which apparently points to a Russian version of the HTC Desire Z, which could mean that Sprint is getting their own version of the HTC Desire Z or that the “HTC A7373” is actually the HTC EVO Shift 4G, HTC Speedy, HTC Knight handset.
This timing also lines up nicely with CES 2011 which will be held from January 6th through the 9th in Las Vegas. If these assumptions are true, then we may see this WiMAX-enabled handset finally break cover in the upcoming weeks.
