The German O2 website reported that the HTC Pro 7 is due for release in January 2011, one month later than originally planned. The new phone, the Windows operating system Phone 7.
HTC is a fan of the slide-out QWERTY, just look at the Touch Pro2, perhaps the best Windows Mobile 6.5 blower of his time. But WinMo is gone, replaced by a much slicker, more awkward name, Windows Phone 7. As you would expect HTC is well on top of that, and has carved the HTC Pro 7 2 in the control group’s honor. It has been touted in January next year, when O2 is to be believed.
Some of the features of the HTC Pro 7 include a 5MP camera, a slider QWERTY keyboard with a touchscreen, a 9.1-inch LCD screen, access to the Zune and an 8GB internal memory. This Windows 7 Phone handset was originally scheduled for release in time for Christmas, but it has not been able to stick to that release deadline. We have to wait a bit to get a hold of these business-oriented slider to get; ‘s see if January 2011 smile at those who want to have the HTC Pro 7.
The sliding keyboard highlights the fact that the HTC Pro 7 focuses on the business rather than entertainment market. There is currently no word on what other features of the phone, or why the phone release date was postponed.
It seems that there is also a CDMA version of HTC 7 Pro, led by Sprint in the U.S., and is also expected to launch in early January 2011, which is consistent with what we’ve heard about Windows 7 Phone CDMA smartphones launch in January.
