Dell has been talking up its interesting convertible notebook called the Inspiron Duo for a while now. as another highly desirable piece of hardware has been made available at a Microsoft Store ahead of Dell: the transforming Inspiron Duo and its JBL-powered speaker dock. The machine isn’t like your typical convertible netbook where the entire LCD rotates around for tablet mode on a hinge. The 10.1 inch screen of the Duo is attached to a pivot in the middle for the frame allowing it to flip around as needed
The laptop is going for $549, but you will need to pay an extra $99 if you want Microsoft’s ‘Signature Premium’ service which will provide priority tech support and a theft recovery system.
The Duo is powered by a 1.5GHz Intel Atom N550 dual core processor. It runs Windows 7 Home Premium. Other specifications include 2GB of DDR3 RAM, a 320GB, 7200rpm hard drive. There is still no word on a shipping date, but they won’t charge you until it ships.
