A Study by Microsoft says today that Business can save up to 30 per cent in carbon discharge and power cost by moving to the Internet based cloud technology.
Microsoft India Director (Sever Business) Pallavi Kathuria said that Internet Applications run in the Cloud technology can help reduce energy consumption and carbon emission by a net 30 per cent or more.
The global study titled “Cloud Computing and Sustainability: The Environment Benefit of Moving to Cloud ‘’has been commissioned by Microsoft and conducted by Accenture and WSP Environment and Energy.
Cloud technology facilitates sharing of technology resources, software and digital information, and it works on a pay-per-use model helping technology companies to bring down their operation costs.
These savings are realized since large data centers benefit from economies of scale and operational efficiencies, much more than what separate IT departments can achieve, she added.
She said that over 4000 applications have been built for Windows Azure. Microsoft cloud platform from India alone. and there is a huge scope for companies to save costs by accepting the cloud, She added,
