Even though Apple just released iOS 4.2, its latest operating system for the iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch, version 4.3 could be right around the corner.

Earlier this month a secret project was reported between Steve Jobs and Rupert Murdoch (pictured above) to get people interested in paying for news again. French Apple fan site Consomac has already discovered the application icon (pictured below) that will be used.

According to MacStories, the new version could launch during mid-December and may include support for app subscriptions. That would fit in-line with News Corp’s “The Daily,” digital newspaper, which will offer $0.99 weekly subscriptions for news content. Apple has reportedly worked closely with News Corp on “The Daily.”

if these rumors are to be believed, then it’s going to happen sooner rather than later. There’s already a date for when this update will be made available: December 13th.

For now a December iOS 4.3 launch remains pure speculation, and we’ll keep you updated if that changes.
