WowWee’s Roboscooper – Sweeper Robot Inspired by Wall-E

WowWee roboscooper robot

Most children would love to have a robot to do their chores, like cleaning their room. WowWee, makers of all sorts of cool toy robots and other electronics, has granted this wish with the Roboscooper, which is able to pick up things in a child’s room automatically.

The six-wheeled robot is like a cross between Wall-E and the 1980s “favorite” Big Trak. In fact, the product page even bills it as “WowWee’s answer to Wall-E” . Unlike Wall-E, this ‘bot looks like it would have trouble lifting anything weighing more than an empty potato-chip packet. Which brings us to the frustration.

As Roboscooper’s name suggests, he will pick up items detected on the floor in autonomous mode, or when controlled by the included remote. With half a dozen wheels, he is able to travel across most terrain without a hitch, featuring multi-directional mobility. Not only that, he might even crack you up with a collection of funny phrases and sound effects, while sensors integrated in his hands let him detect objects in front, with a choice to pick it up or knock them around. It does have one feature that Wall-E doesn’t. It can talk, offering such trite and annoying phrases as “Let’s get to work!” and “One step closer to a cleaner world.” Ugh.

If you want one, the WowWee Roboscooper will ship at the end of this month, and cost about $70. It will require 6 AAA batteries for operation. Check out new prices and buy it from Amazon.
