The upcoming BlackPad tablet from RIM will purportedly be manufactured by Taiwan’s Quanta Computer.
Digitimes passes along word that Chinese-language Apply Daily reports that Quanta will be building the new BlackBerry tablet, a.k.a. BlackPad, to start shipping in September with a price tag of $499(Check out new prices and buy it from Amazon).
The device is so far thought to have a 9.7-inch touchscreen, built-in Wi-Fi and a Bluetooth connection, through which it will be able to connect to smartphones and their 3G data connections. Orders would ship in September, with the device priced at $500. RIM is said to be producing two million units in 2010 and eight million next year.
The Chinese source also says RIM and Quanta plan to ship 2 million Blackpads by the end of 2010, and 8 million in 2011. Now let’s wait for RIM to officially announce its tablet and confirm or unconfirm the details above.
