The last word we heard on the Epic 4G was that it would have an August launch date. This rumor seems to be confirmed by news from Unwired View that insiders claim the expected release day as August 11. This is a day before the rumored launch of the Droid 2 on Verizon.
FYI, the Sprint Samsung Epic 4G comes with a 4 inch Super AMOLED touchscreen display, a 5 MP camera with LED flash, video recording in HD video in 720p, front facing VGA camera for video calls, a full QWERTY keyboard, Android 2.1, 1500 mAh battery, integrated 802.11 b/g/n WiFi, a six axis accelerometer, a 1GHz processor, plus EV-DO Rev and WiMax.
The Epic 4G is the only version of the Galaxy S to pack a sliding QWERTY keyboard. Spint still has a few months as the nation’s only 4G phone carrier. They’re going to want to push for every new subscriber they can get before Big Red rolls out their LTE network. This could happen as early as January, so the pressure is most definitely on.
As for pricing, no details have leaked, however I expect it to have the same price tag as the EVO 4G, which is $199.99 (Check out new prices and buy it from Amazon) as part of a two year deal.
