LG is reportedly planning to launch a tablet computer for the global market.
The Wall Street Journal quotes mobile device marketing exec Chang Ma saying that the tablet will be available by the fourth quarter of this year and be a part of the company’s Optimus line.
LG’s Optimus tablet, which is set to launch by year’s end, will run Android OS. Currently, further details are few and far between, but Ma told the Journal that the focus of the device will be productivity and that people will be able to edit video, among other advanced activities.
According to LG’s vice president of marketing for mobile devices Chang Ma says “Our tablet will be better than the iPad.” According to Ma, “It’s going to be surprisingly productive.”.
Besides the Optimus Tablet, LG hopes to release 10 smartphones by the end of the year.
