Apple iTunes users Hacked Through Paypal : Reports of numerous iTunes accounts being hacked and their users billed for hundreds of downloads via a ‘security hole’ have surfaced with blame being heaped on Apple, yet some commentators have challenged the idea, attributing the misfortune to phishing scams.
Apple and PayPal refused to discuss the details of the incident. Experts have told that there is no security hole in iTunes or Apple servers and that it is most likely users have fallen for an online scam.
As for an official comment, Apple offers this bit of common sense advice: “iTunes is always working to prevent fraud and enhance password security for all of our users. But if your credit card or iTunes password is stolen and used on iTunes we recommend that you contact your financial institution and inquire about canceling the card and/or issuing a chargeback for any unauthorized transactions. We also recommend that you change your iTunes account password immediately.”
