Today Microsoft announced a couple of key titles for their Games for Windows – LIVE service. Both are revivals of long-running PC game franchises that went dormant after their developers closed shop.
At the Gamescon 2010 conference in Cologne, Germany, Microsoft Corp. announced the first series of Xbox LIVE games that would launching on Windows Phone 7 this holiday season, as well as the newest addition to their famed “Age of Empires” franchise, “Age of Empires Online.” They also announced a new version of their “Microsoft Flight Simulator” franchise, entitled “Microsoft Flight.”
AoE Online will be available in 2011 via digital distribution. It is currently in closed beta. Microsoft revealed much less about Microsoft Flight, the other PC exclusive announced today. It’s a successor to the long-running Microsoft Flight Simulator series and is said to bring a “new perspective” to the flight sim genre.
