Dell Aero Andriod Smartphone Review : The Dell Aero is an inexpensive, consumer-oriented model running Google’s Android OS. It sports 3G, Wi-Fi, and a 5 megapixel camera. The Dell Aero has quad-band GSM/EDGE and tri-band 850/1900/2100MHz UMTS/HSDPA, Bluetooth and GPS on board. Packing a 3.5-inch 640 x 360 touchscreen, 624MHz Marvell CPU.
Dell’s entry into the smartphone market runs on Android 1.5, with a bunch of other software preloaded. That includes the Google suite of apps, access to the Android Market, Quick Office, and Facebook.
Like a good number of models running Google’s operating system, the Aero has an alternate user interface created by its manufacturer. Nevertheless, it comes with the standard suite of software, including Gmail, Google Maps, Google Search, YouTube, Google Talk and the Android Market.
It has a 3.5-inch display with640 x 360 pixels and a 5 megapixel camera. It is being shipped with a 2GB microSD card, but it supports cards up to 32GB.
As a consumer-oriented smartphone, it also has a range of social-networking software, like Facebook. Images taken with the 5 megapixel camera can be uploaded directly to Facebook as well as Flickr, Picasa and TwitPic, while movies can be sent to YouTube.
The Dell Aero sells for $100 with an AT&T contract, or $300 without contract. This phone also comes with a mini USB stereo headset, which can be used for calls with its Send/End key. As of this writing, the super slim Aero is only available through Dell’s Web site, as AT&T has yet to make the phone available for sale.
