The New York Times Company announced today 2010 second-quarter results. Total revenues increased 1.2 percent to $589.6 million in the second quarter of 2010 compared with the second quarter of 2009, an improvement from the first quarter 2010 decline of 3.2 percent compared with the first quarter of 2009.
Net income was $32 million, or 21 cents a share, compared with $39.1 million, or 27 cents, a year earlier, the New York- based company said today in a statement. The company, which publishes its namesake newspaper and The Boston Globe, said second quarter advertising revenue was essentially flat at $315 million, while circulation revenue increased about 3 percent to $234.8 million.
