Google’s latest App Inventor software takes aim at the exploding smartphone app market and simplifies the entry requirements. Google claims you don’t need to be a programming guru to create applications for Android OS thanks to its simplified GUI interface.
The software has been tested in schools and universities not from computer science stream in order to make users capable to make the applications by themselves. Harold Abelson, a computer scientist at the Massachusets Institute of Technology who led the project said, “The goal is to enable people to become creators, not just consumers, in this mobile world. We could only have done this because Android’s architecture is so open. These aren’t the slickest applications in the world. But they are ones ordinary people can make, often in a matter of minutes.”
