In an interview with the Wall Street Journal, Activision – Blizzard CEO Bobby Kotick stated that 70% of the company’s operating profit comes from “non-console-based video games”. That’s also the reason why he doesn’t look at retail sales charts that often anymore.
The 11.5 million World of Warcraft players paying a $15 monthly fee has much to do with that, although “non-console-based games” also counts for iPhone and PC games.
Next to World of Warcraft, “non-console-based videogames” comes down to PC games and some iPhone stuff which represent a very minor part in Activision’s business.
