E3 has come and gone, but this year it has left us with the knowledge that some truly revolutionary products are coming in our immediate future. At least, Microsoft and Sony said they were revolutionary.
The Kinect is a seriously impressive piece of technology. It isn’t quite as accurate and smooth as the keynote demos showed, but you couldn’t tell it playing Dance Central or Kinect Adventures. Sadly, Harmonix’s offering was the only impressive one. Most of the other launch titles will be fairly bog-standard retreads of Wii titles.
The same is unfortunately true with the PlayStation Move. It is also substantially less intuitive (Sony’s demo guys were quick to say that the Move took awhile to get used to) than either the Wii or (obviously) the Kinect. Also, there’s no way that thing is going to stay with a real-life child for any length of time without ending up in two pieces.
