CPT Developing TFT-LCD Technology for E-readers

Taiwan-based TFT-LCD panel maker Chunghwa Picture Tubes (CPT) is eyeing the e-book reader market using its TFT-LCD technology, according to company president Lin Sheng-chang.

Lin said probably all 7-inch 4:3 aspect ratio e-book readers currently on the market feature CPT’s TFT-LCD panels.

CPT is also presumed to be the supplier of the 7-inch color TFT-LCD panels for the Pandigital Novel e-reader which marked Pandigital’s first foray in the competitive e-reader market. The US based Pandigital’s forte though lies in their digital photo frame making business.
