Roger Linn is the only man behind the modern day drum machine and the original MPC-60, and he’s also the man behind the concept you’re inevitably peering at above. Now, Roger Linn is totally focused on the design of entirely new products and technology. He wrote about his new design in his blog that, LinnStrument has multi-touch control with pressure sensitivity and USB connection. Everything runs through a patch for Max / MSP and a driver for the protocol OSC / TUIO.
The image that you can look at the top is a rendering of the design thought. Has a total of six rows, with 24 semitones each. It also provides dedicated controls for expression, sustain, etc. The instrument would be designed to be played in both vertical and horizontal position on a table.
Have not yet revealed details of their construction and possible future distribution.
