The Izh 2012 is a motorbike concept which was created by Igor Chak, a talented Russian designer based in Los Angeles, USA.
The Izh-1 was inspired by the 1929 Soviet bike of the same name, made by the company that produces Kalashnikov rifles.
The electric motor sits inside the rear wheel, with a 850cc V-Twin engine in the conventional position. Unconventionally, 50% of it will be made from heat resistant plastic.
Other futuristic ideas are magnetic brakes (with a hydraulic back-up system), a front fork which acts as a crumple zone and night vision kit.
The Izh 2012 is a modern interpretation of the company’s 1929 Izh-1 model. And although visually the two bikes are light-years apart, they do share a similar profile due to the unusual exhaust location on the Izh 2012, and the empty space underneath the seat. But that’s about it.
