The 2011 Audi A8 will offer, alongside a more powerful 4.2-liter V-8 and eight-speed automatic transmission, the option of a factory-installed wireless hotspot for continuous Internet access.
Audi have placed its antenna on the roof, allowing for great connection to WLAN hotspots. This makes it possible for passengers to connect to the net via their laptop, netbook, smartphone or even their new Apple iPad. According to the German automaker its network is cable of speeds up to 7.2 Mbit/sec.
Audi is touting this as the first factory-installed Wi-Fi technology available in the auto industry, although others have offered is as dealer-installed accessories before.
