Canonical, the commercial provider of Ubuntu, has officially released Ubuntu 10.04, the latest version of the immensely popular Linux distribution, which was available for download yesterday onwards.
Ubuntu is easy to install with a graphical installer and contains all the applications you need: a web browser, office suite, media apps, instant messaging and much more.
The three editions are aimed at different user requirements, here’s a brief description of each.
Desktop: Designed for everyday computing with the basic applications included for common tasks.
Server: Designed for web administrators the server edition focuses on server capabilities, speed, uptime and RAM support.
Netbook: A small version of the distro which is extremely fluid and has a faster interface for less powerful machines.
