Garmin has unveiled its nuvi 3700 series of sat navs – devices which ‘rethink an industry icon’ and includes a new flagship in the nuvi 3790T.
Garmin has slimmed down and upgraded its car GPS line with the announcement of three new 3700-series Nuvi models. The Nuvi 3750 ($349), Nuvi 3760T ($399), and Nuvi 3790T ($449), all have the same form factor. They have 4.3-inch (diagonal) touchscreens, and are just 9mm thick. Also setting them apart are capacitive touchscreens, and the addition of smartphone-like multitouch capability: for example, a two-finger pinch zooms in, while a stretch zooms out. The new interface also includes two-finger commands that change perspectives and views. Also like a smartphone, the new Nuvis operate in landscape or portrait screen modes. These Nuvis also pack secondary, booster speakers in their powered windshield mounts for loud and clear directions.
Best of all, the devices also have a “predicted destination” system called MyTrends. The device looks at where you tend to be and then starts looking only in those areas unless you tell it otherwise. In this way it can predict where you’re going and, in the end, take you there without you knowing it.
