Google TV – Google working with Intel, Sony and Logitech

gtv

Google has tied up with Intel, Sony and Logitech for a project which is currently called Google TV. Under this, all the involved companies want to create a technology to make navigation of web applications easy through TV. With new interface for TV and set top boxes, Google aims to bring web apps, search to the TV screen.

Built on Android, the technology is reportedly already in its test phase and, once approved for mass consumption, Google and its partners will be looking to bring online search and hugely popular services such as Twitter, YouTube and Hulu direct to home televisions.

The open-source Google TV platform will be open to third-party developers to write their own plug-ins, as they have for the Android platform, the paper reported. Sony is hoping build the new service into its TV sets in a move that could help it gain against increasingly fierce competition from Samsung and others, the reports said.

Three years back, Google had introduced Google TV Ads. With new Google TV platform being talked about here, we think that Google will strike our TV screens soon.
