Archos 5 Internet Tablet PMP Runs on Android

Because of Android’s immaturity, its not yet mainly used in high-powered media devices though it doesn’t even support hardware graphics acceleration and much less support for multimedia and games.

But Archos bring the Android OS to the new media powered level, Archos’s new Internet Tablet PMP named ” Archos 5 ” selected Android as its OS. The device had 800MHz OMAP3440 processor, 4.8-inch 800 x 480 screen, and can pump out 720p video (including WMV and H.264) over HDMI. With the optional DVR Station the device can do VGA TV recording, though the device also offer capacity up to 500GB Model. The Archos 5 includes also 802.11n WiFi.

The player is available as of today, with prices ranging from $250 to $440, not to mention accessories galore.
